Worlds 2025 is right around the corner, and it promises to be a special one. With a full year of Fearless Draft behind them, teams at the tournament will have had ample time to develop the best possible strategies down a long series as the options grow smaller with every game.

Now, Worlds patch (25.20) has arrived, meaning it's time to take a look at the champions that are most likely to shape the meta at the final and most important League of Legends tournament of the year.

Worlds 2025 Champions

Worlds Meta: Champs to Expect

Top Lane:

  • Ambessa: A staple in pro play ever since her release, Ambessa has pretty much everything a Top Laner wants: strong laning, backline access, mobility, self-reliance. At Worlds, Ambessa should remain a top priority pick early on in a series.
  • Rumble: Riot's problem child in the Top Lane. Despite several nerfs throughout the year, Rumble continues to be a prime pick in pro play, all while his Solo Queue win rate remains in the gutter. Expect Rumble to see a high number of bans at Worlds as teams avoid having to deal with it.
  • Jax: After receiving considerable buffs to his ultimate in Patch 25.19, Jax should rise in priority at Worlds. This should be particularly true for strong laners like Bin who can easily take over the game on the pick after securing an early lead.

Honorable mentions & counter-picks: K'Sante, Gwen, Yorick, Sion, Ornn, Aatrox, Jayce, Renekton, Mordekaiser, Aurora

Jungle:

  • Xin Zhao: One of the biggest tools that has allowed Xin Zhao to succeed in pro play all year long is his ultimate, which essentially lets him become incredibly durable in team-fights without having to give up on damage. During the final playoffs of the year, Xin Zhao was the most picked Jungler in the LTA, LEC, and LCK, and should remain a highly contested pick at Worlds 2025.
  • Jarvan IV: Whenever an immobile carry is picked at Worlds, Jarvan should immediately become a choice for the opposing team. His ultimate, aided by his flag-and-drag, allows him to lock down a champion, providing the perfect setup for the rest of the team to follow up.
  • Pantheon: Much like Rumble, Pantheon has been a problem all throughout the year. In Split 3 of the LTA North, for instance, Pantheon received 67 bans in 68 games. Despite his terrible win rate in Solo Queue, Pantheon's point-and-click crowd control and global ultimate provide too much value in pro play.

Honorable mentions & counter-picks: Wukong, Vi, Trundle, Maokai, Poppy, Skarner, Nocturne, Lee Sin, Sylas, Ivern, Lilia, Brand

Mid Lane:

  • Taliyah: Taliyah's kit simply excels at the highest level of play. Her passive and ultimate allow her to roam faster than anyone and catch opponents off-guard, while her [W] Seismic Shove serves as the perfect setup and/or followup tool to pop priority targets on the spot.
  • Ryze: Come Worlds, come Ryze. The champion provides a fantastic alternative for Mid Laners in Fearless Draft due to the fact that he remains one of the best scaling mages in the game. In the right hands, Ryze always has the capacity to take over games.
  • Azir: Despite their numerous attempts at solving the Azir-in-pro-play problem, Riot hasn't found the mark yet. For the final patch before Worlds 2025, Azir is getting some number tweaks to "shift some power away from some of the Pro attributes to other parts of his kit." At this point, though, Azir is a comfort pick for too many of the world's best players, and this should remain the case at Worlds.

Honorable mentions & counter-picks: Cassiopeia, Galio, Viktor, Twisted Fate, Orianna, Morgana, Aurora, Yone, Ahri, Akali, LeBlanc

Bottom Lane:

  • Corki: After several nerfs in recent patches, Corki's stock should have fallen. Enough to fall out of favor at Worlds 2025, though? We expect not, as the champion continues to be strong in lane and spikes hard with Trinity Force, providing the perfect window to fight for objectives.
  • Kai'Sa: With several other ADCs on the roster taking a hit recently, Kai'Sa has risen as a prime pick just in time for Worlds. Not only can she poke while having great DPS, but her ultimate is also one of the best playmaking tools available to ADCs, and one the best players in the game are happy to exploit.
  • Jinx: Unlike the other two champions on this list, Jinx actually got buffed ahead of Worlds. While she hasn't been a top priority ADC pick for some time, Jinx is a favorite among several of the world's best players, and should quickly climb back up as teams make the most of her range and resets.

Honorable mentions & counter-picks: Jhin, Lucian, Ezreal, Sivir, Caitlyn, Ziggs, Yunara, Varus, Aphelios, Zeri, Ashe

Support:

  • Alistar: The Support role will probably be the one to see the least variance compared to the rest of the year. Engage Supports have ruled the scene all throughout 2025, and Alistar is king among them. With the perfect blend of crowd control and tankiness, the champion is likely to be present at every single series at Worlds.
  • Rell: Much like Alistar, Rell excels in team-fights. A well-timed [W] Ferromancy: Crash Down + [R] Magnet Storm combo can single-handedly turn the tides of a fight — or even decide the game on the spot — making Rell a top pick in her role.
  • Rakan: Completing the AoE knock-up trifecta we have Rakan. Though he plays a little different from Alistar and Rell, as he doesn't have their frontlining capabilities, he still performs several of the same tasks as his team's prime form of engage.

Honorable mentions & counter-picks: Braum, Nautilus, Bard, Neeko, Leona, Renata Glasc, Karma, Blitzcrank, Lulu, Poppy
