Team Vitality Ends Slump With StarSeries Fall 2026 Title Win Over Aurora

Team Vitality seems to have returned to form with a much‑awaited CS2 title win. Following a four‑map Grand Final thriller against Aurora Gaming in Barcelona, Vitality has emerged as the champions of StarLadder StarSeries Fall 2026.

With this victory, they not only celebrate a title win but also the end of a slump that had left them trophyless for 140 days.

Both teams enjoyed impressive journeys to the Grand Final. Aurora went on an unbeaten run that saw them defeat NAVI, NRG, and Vitality, while the eventual champions won all but one match on their road to the final.

Ultimately, fans were treated to a grand display of skill from both sides, though Vitality appeared the more dominant team. Here's how the match played out.

Aurora Gaming 1-3 Team Vitality 

The Grand Final kicked off on Aurora's map pick, Anubis. Vitality got off to a great start, winning three consecutive rounds on the CT side. A splendid performance from mezii helped the team close the first half with a commanding 9‑3 lead.

With Aurora failing to capitalize on their CT half, and ZywOo putting on a show on the T‑side, the map ended in a 13‑4 win for Vitality.

Map 2, Inferno, saw Aurora hit back with a tenacious performance. While Vitality again started with a three‑round lead, the Turkish side caught up quickly, securing a 7‑5 halftime lead with woxic and kyxsan leading the scoreboard.

Tension rose in the second half as Aurora built a 12‑6 lead, but Vitality leaned on their firepower to deny plants and win five rounds in a row.

While the rest of Aurora's squad finished the half in the negatives, impressive performances from Wicadia and Jimpphat helped them close out the map in the final round, avoiding overtime.

Back on their map pick, Mirage, Aurora struggled yet again. Similar to the first map, Vitality delivered a dominant showing. Even though Aurora briefly led 4‑3, Vitality won 10 consecutive rounds to close out the map by a comfortable margin.

ZywOo and flameZ were the stars of the show, with mezii putting in another decisive performance. Aurora failed to convert their shots, with Wicadia the only player finishing with double‑digit frags.

The Final Map

With a trophy on the line, Aurora needed to bring their A‑game on Cache to have any shot at the title. They managed to win the pistol and anti‑eco rounds, but Vitality regained control soon after, thanks to a strong performance from ZywOo.

While a 5‑7 half kept Aurora in the fight, it wasn't enough to overthrow Vitality. After winning six of their eight CT‑sided rounds, Vitality closed out the map 13‑7. flameZ's mid control proved crucial in the second half, with the rest of the team chipping in valuable contributions.

With a Grand Final performance that saw him post 71-44 and top the scoreboard, ZywOo was crowned tournament MVP.

Team Vitality Lifts First Trophy in Over 4 Months

For much of 2025, Vitality was the scariest team in Counter‑Strike, winning seven consecutive trophies and two Majors. However, 2026 didn't see them fully replicate that success.

They dominated much of the first half of the year, with five title wins in a row and an Intel Grand Slam, but their performance began to dip as they approached the year's first Major, IEM Cologne.

The downward spiral started right before the Major, where they failed to make it past the quarterfinals of IEM Atlanta. Then came the IEM Cologne Major itself, where they met the same fate. This was followed by an early elimination in the BLAST Bounty Malta qualifiers and a quarterfinal exit at the 2026 Esports World Cup.

Vitality seemed to regain their footing at BLAST Open Porto after a top‑4 finish. However, this was with jL playing as a stand‑in for mezii, who was on leave for the birth of his child. This raised the question: was Vitality's era of dominance finally over?

With mezii back in the lineup, clearly with a dad buff, the former world #1 roster appeared to have rediscovered their form. They kicked off their StarSeries Fall campaign with flawless wins over magic and FURIA.

While they did lose to an in‑form Aurora, they bounced back with a strong win over FURIA and an even stronger showing against Aurora to exact their revenge. With this, Vitality claim their sixth trophy of the season and valuable VRS points that could help them reclaim their spot on Counter‑Strike's throne.

And given that the Singapore Major is just two months away, Team Vitality might’ve found the perfect time to get back in form.
