The VCT Game Changers Championship 2022 finally kicked off today with the opening games and an upper-bracket game. The day started with a two one-sided affair. The day concluded with two of the best Game Changers Team going at each other with all their might.

VCT Game Changers Championship 2022 Day 1 Recap:

The day 1 of VCT Game Changers Championship 2022 started with the first set of opening matches. The first brawl was Cloud9 White taking on KRU Fem and G2 Gozen taking on X10 sapphire. The day concluded with the winners of the opening matches taking on each other.

Cloud9 White 2-0 KRU Fem:

Cloud9 White came into the tournament as the best-rated team. At the same time, KRU Fem was the David's facing Goliaths in C9 White.

Starting on KRU's favorite map of Ascent, C9W, on attack split open the KRU defense to close the first half with an eight-round lead. KRU started the second half by shortening the lead to six, but C9W answered back, closing the map 13-6.

The start of C9's haven made it seem the map would be much more competitive, but C9 closed the first half 8-4 and dominated the second half to complete the game 13-5. The dominant 2-0 was a statement made by C9 White to all their peers that they are here to win.

G2 Gozen 2-0 X10 Sapphire: 

C9's direct competition G2 Gozen had to answer back with an equally dominant performance ahead of their matchup. X10 Sapphire was ready to spoil it for G2 Gozen.

Starting on G2's Icebox, The constant mid-aggression and flank from G2 caught X10 completely off-guard, and they lost the half 4-8. G2 converted the four-round lead to a convincing 13-4 victory.

Breeze started with G2 on defense, and they kept initiating duels, not letting the opposition get comfortable, and shutting down all the attacks to close the first half 9-3. X10, on defense, put up a fight against G2 and got four rounds before G2 closed off the map 13-7.

The swift 2-0 from G2 was an answer to their next opponent, C9's statement, and we saw an excellent opening for one of the most awaited Game Changers matchups.

Cloud9 White 1-2 G2 Gozen:

The first day concluded with the true clash of Game Changers Titans. Both G2 Gozen and Cloud9 White are the favorites in the competition.

C9 White chose Ascent as their map pick, and G2 chose to defend, and both teams fought tooth and nail, concluding the half with a tie. But the second half had C9 written all over, and they won the map 13-7.

Despite a back-and-forth start to Breeze, G2 pulled ahead in the end and got a two-round lead to close the half. G2 converted the two-round lead into a convincing 13-6 map win to force a third.

Anti-Climatically, The last map was G2 dominating Cloud9 White on attack and defense. The Yoru pick from G2 completely blindsided C9, and G2 Gozen won the first battle of the titans, winning the series 2-1.

With the loss, C9W will go to the Lower bracket, and G2 will play in the Upper Bracket Finals on the 18th.

Tomorrow, we have another EU vs. NA battle, with GuildX taking on Shopify Rebellion, followed by Fennel taking on Team Liquid Brazil and another Upper Bracket Semi Final similar to today.
