Valve enables renting for ALL CS2 cases in the latest update
Back in May of this year, Valve introduced a new feature to Counter-Strike 2, wherein players could ‘rent’ all the skins in a case for the price of a single case key. The rental period would last 7 days, however, players would have access to every skin in the case collection - minus the knife.
Prior to today’s update, only the Kilowatt case could be rented, however, now Valve has opened the floodgates with the new update as of the 28th of November, 2024, and all cases can be rented under the same system.
How to Rent Skins in CS2?
To rent in CS2, you only need 2 things:
- A rentable case
- A case key to unlock said case.
Once you’ve purchased or acquired the case key, open CS2 and go to your inventory. Select the case you wish to rent and click ‘unlock container’. If the case is rentable, there will be an option to click ‘Open to rent’. Confirm, and you will have access to every skin in the case for the next 7 days. Enjoy.
Note:
Renting the case will consume both the key and the case, meaning in order to replicate it again, you will need to acquire a new rentable case and the accompanying case key that matches. After 7 days, the skins will be removed out of your inventory.
Which skins can you rent in CS2?
You can rent skins from all CS2 cases. With the latest update, this now includes all previously released cases as well as all upcoming cases.
Note:
Renting a case will not grant access to the case’ special item (Knife/Glove). However, you will gain temporary access to every other skin in the case.

How to know the condition of rented skins?
Renting skins in CS2 will be randomly decided using the same system as when you unbox a skin from a case opening. There’s no guarantee of quality.
Can you rent souvenir packages?
No, it is not possible to rent souvenir packages.
Can you apply stickers to rented skins?
No, stickers can not be applied to rented skins.
Can you rename rented skins?
No, you can not rename skins you have rented.
How many can I rent at once?
You are allowed to rent one case at a time. When 7 days have elapsed and the skins have returned, you may rent another case’s collection at that time.
Can you rent a knife in CS2?
No, knives and gloves are the only part of the case that is exempt from the renting system.
