Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024: Format, Schedule and More

The Perfect World Shanghai Major RMRs concluded over the weekend and now we have the 24 that will compete for the second and final major title of the year. Starting 30th November, these teams will play in a three-stage competition on LAN to crown the Perfect World Shanghai Major Champion.

Let’s go through the tournament stages, format, schedule and how you can follow the tournament on Strafe.

Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024 Format:

As usual, the Shanghai Major will follow a three stage format featuring Opening Stage, Elimination Stage and Playoffs.

Opening Stage

The Opening Stage of Shanghai Major features a 16-team Swiss system bracket. Teams will qualify to the next stage as soon as they win 3 games. If a team loses three games before they manage to win three games, they will be eliminated.

The fixtures of each stage of the swiss bracket will be decided on the W-L record of the teams i.e teams with similar W-L record will play against each other. For e.g. a team with 0-2 record will only play a team with 0-2 record.

All the qualification and elimination games for the teams will be Bo3s and the rest of the games will be Bo1s.

The teams playing the Opening Stage of Shanghai Major 2024 are:

Out of these 16 teams only 8 teams will join the direct Elimination Stage teams, effectively eliminating 8 teams.

Elimination Stage

The top seeds from EU RMR A and RMR B directly qualified to the Elimination Stage, these teams are:

Note: These seedings are based on the region’s performance during the previous major.

These 8 teams will be joined by the eight teams qualified via the Opening Stage to play the 16 team Swiss stage.

Similar to the Opening Stage, only eight teams will advance further. The format will be the same as the Opening Stage.

Playoffs

Out of the 24 playing teams, 16 will be eliminated in the previous stage. Only the top 8 teams that can best the competition will qualify for the Playoffs.

The Playoff features a Bo3 single elimination bracket. The teams will play the single elimination bracket and the team that can best all their opponents will be crowned the Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024 Champion.

  • December 4th - Break
  • December 5th - December 8th - Elimination Stage

    • December 6th - Elimination Stage Round 3
    • December 7th - Elimination Stage Round 4
    • December 8th - Elimination Stage Round 5
  • December 9th - December 11th - Break
  • December 12th - December 15th - Playoffs
    • December 12th - Quarterfinals
    • December 13th - Quarterfinals
    • December 14th - Semifinals
    • December 15th - Grand Finals
