Riot Games has deployed VALORANT Patch 13.05, introducing major updates that focus on matchmaking integrity, esports integration, and quality-of-life adjustments. This patch implements critical measures against unsportsmanlike behavior while simultaneously preparing players for an upcoming agent progression shift.
Cracking Down on Stream Sniping and Instalock Tools
In a major move to protect matchmaking fairness, Riot is rolling out strict penalties to detect stream sniping and third-party instalock tools. Players caught utilizing these unauthorized tools will face temporary game bans, which will escalate to permanent bans for repeat offenses. This ensures a much healthier competitive experience for both everyday players and streamers.
The Return of Champions Shanghai Pick’Ems

Esports fans can rejoice as Pick’Ems make their official return for Champions Shanghai! Starting September 10, players can access the Group Stage predictions both in-client and on the web. Correctly predicting advancing teams earns points towards exclusive rewards, with extra points awarded for guessing exact placements. The Group Stage action officially kicks off on September 24.
Audio Sprays and Range Adjustments

Based on player feedback, Riot has adjusted the sound attenuation for all sound sprays in the game. They will now only be heard when players are nearby, ensuring teams can communicate effectively without auditory clutter. Additionally, PC players will see changes in the Range practice mode, where the default bot count has been updated to 5, with options to spawn 1, 5, or 10 bots.
Upcoming Agent Gear Overhaul
A major progression warning has been issued to the community: on September 22, Patch 13.06 will revamp the Agent Gear system. Items on the track will soon be tied directly to play time with that specific Agent. While already earned gear remains safe and Kingdom Credits will still be used, players are highly encouraged to grind for inactive Agents now.
Crucial Bug Fixes
Patch 13.05 cleans up several nagging issues. Crucially, smokes from Astra, Brimstone, Clove, Miks, and Omen will no longer block flashes and line-of-sight after dissipating. Performance issues related to Sage or Clove's resurrection, Chamber's Headhunter, and KAY/O's NULL/CMD have been resolved. The patch also delivers fixes for Cypher's Trapwire, Fade's Seize on Lotus, and Waylay's abilities.
