GenG, part of the VCT Pacific, finalize their Valorant roster signing TNL core Meteor, Eko, Coach Bail, and TS alongside k1ng and iNTRO.

GenG of Pre-Valorant Partnership Program.

GenG was a big name in LoL and South Korea, but when Valorant Esports rolled around, The organization decided to field a Canadian roster consisting of effys, gMd, hyunh, Mkael, Player1, and Coach Blank.

GenG Valorant North America

The team won the first Valorant event in North America and was amongst the top teams in the early stages of Valorant alongside Sentinels. The most significant result of GenG Valorant was back in 2021 when they placed 3rd in VCT Masters 1, but since then, the team did not find any consistency and wasn't even a consistent name in Tier 2 NA Valorant.

Acceptance into the VCT Pacific:

When the application for Valorant Partnership Program rolled around, GenG decided to apply for the Pacific league instead of the Americas with its majority South Korean fan base, courtesy of the LoL team.

Valorant Pacific Partnered Organisation

The organization got into the Valorant Partnership Program and was one of the three Korean Organisations to be selected alongside DRX and Detonation Gaming. With the selection and Riot announcing 15th October as the due date to finalize the roster, GenG announced open player recruitment on 30th September to find their VCT 2023 Roster.

GenG announce Open recuitment

The 2023 Valorant Roster:

With the recruitment announcement in place, on 6th October, GenG acquired Coach bail and Duelist/Operator main Meteor from the Northeption as the first members of their 2023 Valorant roster. Today, Seulgi from VLR reported that GenG had signed Eko and TS, players who previously played with Meteor and Bail in TNL Esports, as the following squad members.

TNL Esports disbanded in January 2022, and the players went thier separate ways. TNL was one of the top teams in Korea in 2021 and was ranked 4th in 2021.

Meteor, the team's star, later moved to Northeption and helped the team dethrone the ZETA division in Japan to qualify for VCT Masters Copenhagen. While the team was in one of the toughest groups in the event, they managed to defeat XERXIA but lost to the eventual winner FPX who'd then make a dream run.

The organization also signed k1ng, part of the legendary Vision Striker roster, to go 102-0 in Korea and later played alongside EKO and TS on OnSlayers for a while. The last squad member is iNTRO, who played for Reject in the VCT East Aisa LCQ, but an unfortunate loss to Edward gaming and Kone eSC eliminated them from the event.

The finalized roster of GenG for 2023 VCT will be as follows:

  • Kim "Meteor" Tae-o
  • Yu "TS" Tae-Seok (IGL)
  • Yeom "eKo" Wang-ryong
  • Lee "k1Ng" Seung-won
  • Kang "iNTRO" Seung-gyun
  • Lee "bail" Sung-jae (Head Coach)
