After an interesting week of unlikely outcomes, Clavision Masters 2025 is over, and Team Tidebound has emerged as champions. This tournament had a lot of questions for chinese teams. Nonetheless, one thing is unquestionable: Tidebound won and added another major point in their favor.

At the same time, many are wondering if PARIVISION is really suffering from the classic “favorite’s curse.” Let’s dive deeper into the performance of big teams, the surprises delivered by underdogs, and the current state of Chinese Dota. Here’s how the tournament played out — and some thoughts on what these results might mean.

Tundra Esports Bouncing Back?

To start, let’s look at how Tundra Esportsfought their way to the Grand Finals. Despite making it all the way to the end, Tundra actually placed third in Group A. On one hand, this shows that finishing first in groups isn’t everything. On the other, it suggests this seeding strategy is more viable than what we saw in the early iterations of the BLAST Slam.

Tundra won their Upper Bracket Quarterfinal against BetBoom Team 2–1, with balanced games that didn’t go over 40 minutes. Next, they faced Nigma Galaxy and lost the first map after an exhausting, hour-long battle. But the next two maps were increasingly faster as Tundra took control and dictated the pace.

In the Upper Bracket Final, Tundra continued to look strong, dictating the pace against Team Tidebound. While the first map took over 51 minutes, the second was wrapped up in just 30, sending Tundra to the Grand Finals with what looked like a solid shot at the trophy.

Team Tidebound: China's Best

Team Tideboundtook a different path to the Grand Finals, starting with first place in Group B. That group-topping performance secured them a direct spot in the Semifinals, where they faced Gaimin Gladiators. Just like in the group stage, Tidebound delivered a convincing 2–0 to boost their confidence even further.

Unfortunately for them, Tundra Esports was waiting. Team Tidebound got shut down 2–0 and dropped to the Lower Bracket, where they patiently awaited their next chance — a classic Chinese clash against Xtreme Gaming to decide who would represent their region in the Grand Finals.

Tidebound vs. Xtreme Gaming was another testament to Tidebound’s growing dominance in Chinese Dota, as they closed out a clean 2–0 and earned their rematch against Tundra for the championship.

Grand Finals: Tundra Made Them Work for It

The Grand Finals kicked off with a win for Tundra Esports, but Tidebound quickly answered back to tie the series 1–1. Maps three and four went back and forth again, pushing the match to a fifth and final map — a nail-biting showdown for the title on home soil.

After 44 tense minutes and 23 seconds, Team Tidebound closed it out and claimed the Clavision Masters 2025: Snow-Ruyi Championship. They took home US$213,500 for first place. Tundra Esports earned US$126,000 as runner-up, and Xtreme Gaming added to China’s overall winnings with US$87,500 for third place.

PARIVISION Falling Out of Grace

Of all the surprises, none was bigger than PARIVISION crashing out in 7th place after two straight losses on the playoffs. Naturally, people point to the infamous “TI curse” — every year, the favorite heading into EWC and TI often stumbles when it matters most.

PARIVISION had already finished third at EWC 2025, so the curse theory was on everyone’s mind. But there’s also the simple reality of accumulated fatigue at the end of a long season, plus the impact of traveling to China. Taking breaks has its cost, but pushing through burnout might cost even more.

Finally, there’s always the chance they’re saving themselves — and their strategies — for Team Spirit. Going all out too early is draining, and secrecy is vital with The International so close. Maybe this was just PARI playing the long game — and they still walked away with a US$36,750 prize to stay warm and sharp.

Whether that’s true or not, only time will tell — but if it is, PARIVISION could come out swinging at TI and might even take it easy again during the upcoming FISSURE Universe Episode 6, if they accept an invite.

Closing Thoughts

Despite the absence of the three-time hopefuls (Spirit and Liquid), the Clavision Masters 2025 was an exciting tournament that shed light on another facet of the current pro Dota scene. PARIVISION logged their weakest result in ages, Tundra Esports nearly took it all, and Team Tidebound now stands tall as China’s pride.

Next up is the still-unrevealed lineup for FISSURE Universe Episode 6 — and hopefully, we’ll finally get this year’s compendium in the coming weeks. The International 2025 is right around the corner and instead of one clear favorite, we have an ever-growing list of real contenders.
