Taiga Banned from ESIC tournaments for Life
Dota 2 has had its highs and lows over the years, and one of the most symbolic scandals was the match-fixing allegations against Tommy "Taiga" Le. The investigation was announced, and we finally have a verdict.
The Esports Integrity Commission (ESIC) issued a Final Notice of Charge and Sanction Determination against professional player Tommy Le under the ESIC Integrity Program, including the Anti-Corruption Code (ACC) and Code of Conduct.

A Long Time Has Passed
As we all know, it has been a long time since the announcement of the investigation and this was no accident. ESIC received information giving rise to concerns regarding Taiga’s welfare and state of mind.

With that in mind, they decided to delay the verdict considering his condition and that is stated as the main reason for the response coming now instead of at an earlier date.
Investigation and Findings
According to ESIC, Taiga did not provide substantive responses to their interrogatories, did not attend scheduled interviews, and did not provide a compelling justification either.
His deliberate and persistent lack of cooperation forced ESIC to draw adverse inferences in accordance with its rules. According to the investigation, Taiga:
- engaged in communications with individuals alleged to be involved in betting or match-fixing activity;
- became involved in betting-related communications and financial dealings connected to professional matches;
- disclosed, or was involved in circumstances involving the use of, inside information for betting purposes;
- engaged in, facilitated, or agreed to conduct designed to ensure particular in-game incidents for betting-related purposes;
- received financial benefit in connection with such conduct; and
- failed to report relevant approaches and failed to cooperate with ESIC’s investigation.
Charges and Sanction
According to the official announcement, ESIC determined that Taiga committed multiple breaches of their Anti-Corruption Code and Code of Conduct:
- improper influence of match conduct and specific in-game events;
- betting and facilitating betting activity;
- misuse and disclosure of inside information; and
- failure to disclose corrupt approaches and failure to cooperate with an investigation.
The final decision was a lifetime ban from all ESIC events. This means Tommy is prohibited from participating in, officiating at, attending in an official capacity, or otherwise being involved in any ESIC member event, competition, or sanctioned activity, effective immediately.
Taiga Still Making Moves
There was also news reported by Cyberscore in late 2025 stating that Taiga was still engaging in shady behavior by approaching players from Runa Team using ESL's official Discord.

Now that his ban has been confirmed, most likely Taiga will either find another way to approach players or give up on Dota 2 entirely. It is an expected outcome for an otherwise very talented player.
Closing Thoughts
Taiga has finally reached closure in his match-fixing investigation despite his lack of cooperation and departs from professional Dota 2 with a stain that will follow him forever in the form of a lifetime ESIC ban.
