Kim “Ssumday” Chan-ho has announced his retirement from competitive League of Legends. He last played for 100 Thieves competitively, having joined for their 2023 Summer Split run.

Just prior to his retirement announcement, the 27-year-old top laner had transitioned into a content creator role for 100 Thieves. Having only lasted 2 months in that role, he has now fully retired from the League of Legends scene effective immediately.

Ssumday Retirement Announcement

Ssumday announced on the 8th of May 2024, that he intended to retire after over a decade of professional play. He went on to state that he intended to complete his military service in July.

With that said, he left open the possibility of his return past service period.

“After finished service… I don’t know yet if I’ll do coaching or streaming or maybe find another job outside of league. But I’ll try to find out what I want to do.”

Ssumday 10-year Career

Having begun in Korea, Ssumday spent nearly a third of his career under the KT Rolster banner, first playing for KT Rolster Bullets and then Arrows, before joining the main roster when it consolidated in 2014.

After his stint on KT, Ssumday crossed the pond to America, where he competed first under the Dignitas banner for a year. He would then join 100 Thieves, an organization that he would spend the other 2/3rds of his career competing under. In his first round with them, he played under their roster for 5 years, briefly joining their Academy roster for 5 months but spending the majority of his time with the main roster.

In 2022, he joined Evil Geniuses, competing under them for just one split in 2023 before being placed on the bench and going inactive. He would resurface shortly after back on 100 Thieves, where he spent the last split of his career competing for them once again.

It was with Ssumday that 100 Thieves found much of their LCS success, reaching 2nd place 5 times with him as their starting top laner. In 2021, they won the LCS 2021 Championship with him on the roster.

Community Reaction

Ssumday was generally beloved as an LCS talent, and his retirement announcement drew strong reactions of support and love from the community, especially from former teammates and members within the circuit.

Locke in League of Legends: Abilities, Playstyle, Release Date

Riot’s newest champion, Corvin Locke, arrives as a nail-slinging exorcist versed in forbidden rites, shaped by a childhood steeped in Demacian lies and hypocrisy. Born to Demacian occultists, Locke grew up learning a brutal lesson: demons are not the source of humanity’s darkness, but its consequence. That belief drives his mission now—to tear through every soul, expose its hidden rot, and make the world a little more honest, one exorcism at a time.
