In a landmark move for the Southeast Asian esports scene, BLAST has announced its plans to host two prestigious esports tournaments in Singapore in 2024 and 2025. The announcement marks a significant milestone for Singapore. Thus signifying an advancement in Singapore's rise as a leading esports and gaming hub.

From October 30th to November 3rd, 2024, Singapore will be the epicenter of the esports world as it hosts the BLAST Premier World Final. This event will see eight of the world's best Counter-Strike teams converge in the city-state to compete for the coveted World Final trophy and a staggering prize pool of $1,000,000.

A Partnership with Global Giants

BLAST's partnership with AEG Presents Asia, one of the world’s largest live entertainment companies, will bolster the success of these high-profile events. Along with support from the Singapore Tourism Board (STB), this collaboration will be a key part of BLAST’s strategy to create unparalleled esports experiences.

James Woollard, Director of Market Development at BLAST, expressed his excitement about bringing such monumental events to Southeast Asia.

"We are incredibly excited to bring two of the biggest esports titles to this vibrant destination. Over the coming 18 months, Singapore will become a major hub for esports in Southeast Asia… we look forward to delivering unforgettable experiences for fans while helping to build a thriving esports ecosystem in the region."

The Asia Pacific region is already a significant player in the global esports market. Accounting for over half of global esports views (according to BLAST). By hosting the BLAST Premier World Final, Singapore is poised to attract even more attention and investment in the esports sector.

Ms. Ong Ling Lee, Executive Director, Sports and Wellness at the Singapore Tourism Board, emphasized the significance of these events:

"The Counter-Strike event marks the first BLAST-branded event in Southeast Asia and the inaugural Counter-Strike tournament series in the region, solidifying Singapore's position as a world-class esports destination."

Looking Ahead: Dota 2 in 2025

Following the World Final in 2024, Singapore will continue its journey as an esports hub with the BLAST Dota Slam in 2025. This event will build on the momentum from the previous year. Thus, showcasing Singapore's commitment to growing its esports ecosystem and providing unforgettable experiences for fans and participants alike.

With these announcements, BLAST has planned to firmly place Singapore on the global esports map. The coming years promise to be transformative for the region, as it prepares to welcome the world’s best esports teams and their fans to the heart of Southeast Asia.
