"I'm tired of doing nothing."

On August 19th, the Counter-Strike world was treated to an emotional post from Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyljev, the player hailed as the greatest of all time.

In a heartfelt message on his Telegram channel, "S1mple's Diary," the Ukrainian superstar opened up about his feelings towards his former team, Natus Vincere, just hours after they fell short against Team Vitality in the grand finals of IEM Cologne 2024.

Please note that the original statement made by S1mple was in Ukrainian, and we have tried our best to get an accurate translation.

The post offered a rare glimpse into the mind of a player who has been at the pinnacle of Counter-Strike for nearly a decade. S1mple's words were a mix of pride, frustration, and longing—emotions that resonated deeply with fans and players alike.

"NA'VI doesn't need S1mple; Sasha needs NA'VI."

This poignant statement encapsulates the complex relationship between s1mple and the team that has been his home since 2016. Despite his inactive status on the roster, it's clear that s1mple still feels a strong connection to NA'VI. The sense of loss is palpable as he reflects on not being part of the team anymore. Particularly after such a significant event like IEM Cologne.

The Struggles of Motivation and a New Chapter

S1mple also touched on the challenges he sees within NA'VI's current roster. While he praised the team's performance, he hinted at a missing element—something he described as "professional egoism."

According to s1mple, this crucial trait is what separates good teams from those capable of establishing an era of dominance. It's a subtle critique, but one that suggests s1mple believes the current roster still has room to grow. He also praised current NaVi star rifler Justinas "jL" Lekavičius, mentioning his presence as bringing a sense of confidence to the team.

Surprisingly (or unsurprisingly), s1mple also revealed that he has recently found happiness in a new relationship. Also joking about its potential longevity but expressing genuine contentment. This personal update marks a new chapter in his life, one where he seems to be finding balance outside of the intense world of professional gaming.

The Future: A Promise of Return

The post concluded on a hopeful note, with s1mple expressing his desire to return to competitive play. "When I come back, I'll definitely be stronger—it's just a matter of time," he wrote. Thus leaving fans eager for the day they might see him back on the stage.

Fans were given a brief glimpse of this when the superstar returned to the big stage to play for Team Falcons in the BLAST Premier Spring Showdown. However, things did not go as swimmingly as expected. As Falcons fell to Metizport in the first round, S1mple put up an average 0.94 rating in the series.

His official return, whenever it happens, promises to be one of the most highly anticipated events in esports.

In the end, s1mple's post is more than just a reflection on NA'VI and his career. It's also a testament to the deep connection he shares with the team and the game. As he navigates this new chapter in his life, fans are left with a sense of anticipation for his return.

Knowing that when s1mple does come back, it will be with a renewed fire and determination to once again reshape the landscape of Counter-Strike. The GOAT's journey is far from over; it's merely paused, waiting for the next chapter to unfold.
