Ubisoft is set to launch Rainbow Six Siege X, the most significant transformation in the game’s decade-long history, on June 10, 2025. This free update will introduce groundbreaking features that enhance gameplay, balance competitive mechanics, and revamp classic elements of Siege.

From a new anti-cheat system to map enhancements, audio overhauls, and the brand-new 6v6 mode, Dual Front, Siege X aims to redefine tactical shooter experiences. Let’s dive into the most crucial updates coming to Rainbow Six Siege X.

1. R6 ShieldGuard: A New Anti-Cheat System

With Siege X, Ubisoft is launching R6 ShieldGuard, a comprehensive anti-cheat system designed to unify all security initiatives under one banner. Unlike traditional anti-cheat solutions that rely on periodic updates, ShieldGuard will feature:

  • Live security updates that roll out without requiring server downtime.
  • Stronger detection methods that make it harder for cheat developers to bypass.
  • Expanded anti-toxicity measures, including improvements to the game’s reputation system to deter disruptive behavior.

Ubisoft aims to create a cheat-free, fair, and competitive environment where integrity is prioritized.

2. Enhanced Classic Maps: Visual and Tactical Overhaul

To bring Siege in line with modern gaming standards, Siege X will introduce major visual and lighting updates to five iconic maps:

  • Clubhouse
  • Chalet
  • Border
  • Bank
  • Kafe Dostoyevsky

These maps will receive 4K textures (PC only), improved lighting, and realistic shadows, making environments feel more immersive and strategically varied.

Every season, three additional maps will undergo similar modernizations, ensuring that Siege remains visually stunning for years to come.

3. Rappelling Overhaul: More Mobility, More Tactics

Movement in Rainbow Six Siege has always been a key tactical element, and Siege X is taking it a step further with improved rappelling mechanics:

  • Horizontal wall-running, allowing players to reposition along walls quickly.
  • Corner jumps, making it possible to vault around building edges.
  • Improved rappelling animations, making movement feel more fluid and natural.

This update adds new offensive and defensive strategies, forcing teams to rethink site security and attacker movement.

4. New Destructible Elements: Environmental Strategy Revamped

Destruction has always been a core pillar of Siege, and Siege X introduces new destructible environmental objects to enhance tactical depth:

  • Fire Extinguishers – Can be shot to create temporary smoke screens or concuss enemies.
  • Gas Pipes – Once ruptured, they ignite and burn an area before violently exploding.
  • Interactive Metal Detectors – Defenders can disable them to prevent noise alerts, adding another layer of deception.

These elements increase unpredictability, forcing teams to adapt to new strategies in every match.

5. Audio System 2.0: A Sound Overhaul for Better Tactical Awareness

Sound cues are crucial in Siege, and Siege X is introducing a massive audio rework:

  • Reworked sound propagation, ensuring gunshots and footsteps travel more realistically.
  • Improved reverb effects, so players can instantly recognize whether a sound comes from inside a room, outside a building, or a large open space.
  • Better differentiation of vertical sounds, making it easier to tell if enemies are above or below you.

This overhaul enhances spatial awareness, giving players more accurate intel through sound alone.

6. Dual Front: The New 6v6 Game Mode

One of the biggest additions to Rainbow Six Siege X is Dual Front, a new 6v6 mode that brings respawn mechanics and fresh strategic gameplay. In this mode:

  • Teams must capture three enemy sectors while defending their own.
  • Players select from a curated roster of 35 operators, mixing Attackers and Defenders

The first exclusive map for Dual Front, District, will launch alongside the mode, and operator rotations will happen twice per season to keep gameplay fresh.
