Dual Front in Rainbow Six Siege X: Everything You Need to Know
Ubisoft is shaking things up with Rainbow Six Siege X, bringing a brand-new experience to the tactical shooter. One of the biggest highlights of this update is Dual Front, the first-ever 6v6 game mode in Siege, set to redefine how players approach strategy, teamwork, and combat.
After hands-on testing in a private session and a live demo in Atlanta, here's everything you need to know about Dual Front before its official release.
What Is Dual Front?
Dual Front is a 6v6 game mode debuting in Rainbow Six Siege X as part of Year 10, Season 2 (Y10S2). Unlike the traditional 5v5 Attack vs. Defense structure of Siege, this mode requires teams to attack and defend simultaneously on a massive new map.
The objective? Capture enemy territories while defending your own. To win, teams must:
- Defend their three assigned sectors.
- Attack three enemy sectors and plant the defuser.
- Control the middle neutral zone for additional objectives and advantages.
This creates a dynamic, fast-paced battlefield where tactical decision-making is crucial. Matches can last up to 30 minutes, though most will wrap up within 20-25 minutes.
When Does Dual Front Release?
Since Dual Front is launching as part of the Rainbow Six Siege X update, it's expected to go live on 10th June 2025, alongside the rest of the Y10S2 content. But fans can play the game mode right now if they get accepted for the Closed Beta.

Rainbow Six Siege X Closed Beta Start and End Dates

The New Map: District
At launch, Dual Front will feature one map, District, the largest map in Siege history.

- Two parallel sides: One for attacking, one for defending.
- Diverse combat areas: Industrial sections, a gas station, and other key locations.
- Evolving map design: Ubisoft has confirmed that District will receive updates over time.
Expect map changes each season, keeping the experience fresh.
How Does Dual Front Work?
The mode is designed around a dual-lane system:
- Blue Lane: Your team's defensive sectors.
- Red Lane: Your enemy's sectors that you must attack.

- Neutral Zone: A contested area where special events, like rescuing a hostage (Dokkaebi), take place.

Key Mechanics:
- Simultaneous Attack & Defense: You must split your team wisely between attacking and defending.
- Reinforcement & Planning Phase: A one-minute prep phase allows teams to fortify defenses and strategize.
- Restricted Movement: Players can move freely in their blue lane and one specific enemy sector. Crossing into the red lane for more than three seconds results in an instant death.
- Respawns & Operator Swaps: Unlike standard Siege, players can respawn after dying and swap operators mid-match.
This means players must constantly adapt, making real-time strategy and coordination more important than ever.
Operator Pool & Rotations
For the first time in Rainbow Six Siege, attackers and defenders can be on the same team, opening up new tactical possibilities. Moreover, creative team compositions will be key to victory.
Not all operators will be available in Dual Front. Ubisoft is implementing a rotating operator pool, ensuring that the meta stays fresh.
- 35 operators will be available at launch.
- The selection will change every month, forcing players to adapt to new strategies.
- Some operators, like Lion, are temporarily excluded due to their gadgets being too powerful in this mode.
Additionally, some operator gadgets have been tweaked to maintain balance.
Why Dual Front is a Game-Changer for Siege
Dual Front introduces several new mechanics that could fundamentally change how players approach Siege:
- Larger Teams (6v6): More coordination and strategy are required.
- Respawns & Operator Swaps: Encourages experimentation and adaptability.
- New Team Compositions: Attackers & Defenders working together for the first time.
- Rotating Operators & Map Updates: Keeping the mode fresh over time.
For newcomers, Dual Front provides an easier entry point since death isn’t permanent, making it a great training ground before diving into standard Siege matches.
For veterans, the mode offers a new layer of depth, requiring strong communication and tactical play to balance offense and defense.
Final Thoughts
While Dual Front is a departure from classic Siege gameplay, it stays true to the tactical depth the game is known for. The new game mode offers something fresh for long-time players while making Siege more accessible for newcomers.
Whether it becomes a mainstay in competitive play remains to be seen, but one thing is certain—Dual Front is a huge step forward for Rainbow Six Siege X.
Get ready to strategize, adapt, and dominate the battlefield when Dual Front arrives on 10th June 2025!
