Rainbow Six Siege at EWC 2026: The Biggest Siege Stage Yet

Rainbow Six Siege at EWC 2026: The Biggest Siege Stage Yet

Rainbow Six Siege is back at the Esports World Cup for a third straight year, and 2026's edition is bringing more firepower than ever. The tournament runs August 11–14 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with an expanded field of 22 teams, a brand-new play-in stage, and more best-of-three matches that promise to make every series feel like a playoff clash.

A Bigger, Bolder Format

Past editions featured 16 teams. This year, 22 squads will fight for the title and the $2,000,000 prize pool. The new play-in stage adds an extra layer of drama before the group stage even locks in its final participants.

It's a smart upgrade that gives more regions a shot and raises the tension for every team that hasn't already locked in a safe berth. The winner will also earn an automatic qualification spot to the Six Invitational 2027, the crown jewel of Siege esports, making the EWC trophy even more valuable.

How Teams Get There

The qualification paths spread the field globally, with 22 teams earning their spots through regional leagues and qualifiers:

  • North America League: Top 4 teams
  • Europe/MENA League: Top 4 teams
  • South America League: Top 4 teams
  • China League: Top 4 teams
  • Asia Pacific League: Winners of each of the 3 APAC sub-regions, plus a 4th team TBD
  • MENA Qualifier: 1 additional team

The regional league Kickoff events and the BLAST R6 Major in Salt Lake City won't hand out EWC spots directly, but they will absolutely tell you who is arriving to Riyadh hot and who is walking in with shaky confidence.

Team Secret: Can They Do It Again?

Team Secret returns to Riyadh as defending champions, and their 2025 run was nothing short of legendary. They went through the entire tournament without dropping a single map, a perfect 9-0 record, and crushed G2 Esports 3-0 in the grand final.

That kind of flawless performance doesn't happen often, and every team coming to EWC 2026 will have that run in mind. But defending titles is a completely different beast, especially after the momentum shifts that happened at the Six Invitational 2026.

FaZe Clan: A Dynasty That Won't Slow Down

FaZe Clan comes into EWC 2026 as the reigning back-to-back Six Invitational champions, the first team in Siege history to pull that off. They beat Team Secret 3-1 in Paris to cement their dynasty, with Thiago "Handyy" Ferreira claiming his second straight tournament MVP.

FaZe also carries extra motivation: with the Six Invitational 2027 heading back to Brazil, their home crowd, pulling off a historic three-peat while also lifting the EWC trophy would write a chapter no one in Siege esports would ever forget.

Anything can happen in Riyadh

Two SI champions. A defending EWC champion. A bigger stage. A prize pool that changes careers. The Esports World Cup has quickly become one of the most unpredictable stops on the Siege calendar. Remember how Team Falcons and FaZe both crashed out early in 2025 before Secret ran the table?

Anything can happen in Riyadh, and that is exactly what makes it unmissable. Keep an eye on Strafe Esports for all the latest news, match coverage, and previews as EWC 2026 approaches.
