Rainbow Six Siege is no stranger to bold seasonal shakeups, and Year 11 Season 2: Operation System Override is another one of those ambitious updates the game has been seeing in recent times.

Unveiled just before the grand finals at the Salt Lake City Major, the new season arrives on June 2nd carrying a fan-favorite operator rework, the most significant overhaul to ranked play in the game's history, a brand-new map steeped in nostalgia, and a slew of quality-of-life improvements.

Here is everything you need to know before the update goes live.

Dokkaebi Gets a Lethal Makeover

For years, Dokkaebi has been the queen of being a map-wide frustrating presence who could ping every defender's phone at once. Operation System Override trades that broad disruption for something far more terrifying: precision.

Her signature Logic Bomb is gone. In its place is the Jegeo Payload, a single-target hack that locks onto one defender and gives them a narrow window to disable it. If they fail to react in time, the consequences are devastating — the phone detonates, dealing 40 HP in direct damage, igniting a brief patch of fire on the ground, and permanently severing the defender's connection to their gadgets and observation tools for the rest of the round. For intel-anchors like Maestro and Echo, a single missed disarm could cost their team the entire round.

Because destroyed phones can no longer be hacked on death, Dokkaebi compensates with the ability to hack dropped phones from anywhere on the map, even through walls — though the gathered intel is temporary. To complete her transformation into a high-pressure duelist, she is also receiving the new XK23 assault rifle, a potent mid-range weapon that will also be available to Rauora and Sens and will be issued free to all players at launch.

Ranked 3.0: Transparency and Respect for Your Time

The biggest systemic change this season is the complete redesign of competitive play under the banner of Ranked 3.0. The core philosophy is straightforward: fairness, clear progression, and respecting the hours you put in.

The most welcome change is the removal of the controversial hidden MMR. Going forward, your displayed rank is your skill rating—no more wondering whether the system secretly thinks you belong somewhere else. Placement matches are returning with greater weight, allowing your starting rank to calibrate quickly rather than grinding through dozens of games before your true tier reflects.

A new dynamic soft reset will bridge seasons intelligently, honoring your previous performance while leaving room to climb. Perhaps most importantly, the reward structure is shifting away from locking top cosmetics behind peak rank achievements. Instead, Alpha Packs and Competitive Coins will be earned primarily through match participation, making progression feel accessible and consistent for players at every level.

For the elite, a Legend Division is set to arrive mid-Season 3, reserved exclusively for players who finish above Platinum in Season 2. It is a clear aspirational target that gives top-end players something meaningful to chase.

Operator Balancing

Operation System Override's balance pass leans heavily into flank-watching operators, and Gridlock is the biggest winner. Her Track Stingers are receiving a dramatic upgrade, and stepping on them now triggers a brutal 10-second limping movement penalty on top of damage, and their health has been bumped from 1 HP to 35 HP, forcing defenders to actively shoot them clear instead of casually tanking a single hit. Her total trap count drops to three, but faster deployment and dramatically higher impact make her a significantly more threatening presence.

Zofia returns to her roots as a 2-speed, 2-health operator, locking in her identity as a reliable flex pick. Pulse and Mozzie both receive range buffs to the Cardiac Sensor and Pests respectively, and Nomad gains grip attachment options for her AK-74M alongside an expanded Airjab detection range.

Calypso Casino: A Throwback to Rainbow Six Vegas

The map pool is expanding with Calypso Casino, a neon-drenched arena that draws direct inspiration from the legendary Rainbow Six Vegas. But this is no simple throwback; it is a purpose-built map designed for Modern Siege's pace and mechanics.

Verticality is the defining feature. Drone vents run uninterrupted from the basement to the third floor, attackers can spawn below the map and rappel up to the roof, and a massive exterior crane enables a uniquely cinematic approach: rappelling upside-down straight into the main lobby. The map's tonal range is equally striking, moving from cold, sterile security vaults in the basement to warm, art-deco high-roller lounges above.

Quality of Life and Fair Play

Ubisoft is also addressing the ecosystem around gameplay. Mousetrap anti-cheat bans are ramping up to catch console spoofers, while native mouse and keyboard support is officially arriving on console — with those players routed directly into the PC matchmaking pool to keep competition balanced.

A Rotating Trial Operators system will give players access to six unowned operators each week, and a new in-game Esports tab will feature Tier 1 team pages so fans can track pro stats directly within the client.
