Peyz Sets New Pentakill Record in Tier 1 League of Legends

T1’s newest addition, Kim “Peyz” Su-hwan, continues to turn heads with his League of Legends prowess. At just 20 years old, the South Korean AD Carry has become the first player ever in competitive League of Legends to reach 13 Pentakills, surpassing the previous record holder, Chen “GALA” Wei, once again.

Peyz and GALA Tussle for Pentakill Record

Currently, there are three players in the Tier 1 League of Legends battling at the top for the record. They are: Park “Ruler” Jae-hyuk of Gen.G, Peyz of T1, and GALA of JD Gaming. In December of last year, Peyz briefly took the lead in Pentakills with 12, but in January, GALA matched Peyz. Now, Peyz has reclaimed the lead after T1’s series against Nongshim today.

As it stands, Peyz holds the record:

  • Peyz – 13 Pentakills
  • GALA – 12 Pentakills
  • Ruler – 12 Pentakills

The Proven Prodigy Continues to Impress

What particularly makes this achievement so impressive for Peyz is his youth. At just 20, he’s considered one of the most successful LCK players already (individually). He was the youngest botlaner to win the LCK title at the age of 17, when he debuted with Gen.G. This also earned him a place in the select group of players known as the “Royal Roaders”.

Peyz is currently also the holder for the most kills in a single LCK split with 234 kills and holds the record for the highest number of kills in a single match at an international League of Legends event.

After an extremely successful stint with Gen.G, including an MSI title and 4 LCK All-Pro Team finishes, Peyz found himself benched from the roster.

Seeking a fresh start, he was recruited by JDG for the 2025 season. There, despite not qualifying for any internationals, he would be voted twice into the LPL All-Pro Team. In 2026, he returned to the LCK, now under the T1 banner.

T1 Trailing Behind

T1 are currently trailing slightly in the LCK Rounds 1-2. Coming into the rest of Week 7, they have a current record of 9-4, sitting at 4th on the board. While they are pretty much a lock for Road to MSI, only 2 slots are awarded to the LCK, and they’ll have HLE, Gen.G, and KT Rolster to contend with above them.
