The LPL lost all four of its opening matches in the Worlds 2026 Swiss Stage on Friday, October 23. It marks the first time every Chinese representative has started the main stage of the League of Legends World Championship with a loss.
The result is notable because all four LPL teams entered the Swiss Stage directly, without going through the Play-In Stage. Their combined 0-4 record contrasts with previous editions, when the region had always recorded at least one win in its opening matches.
LPL Results in Worlds 2026 Swiss Stage Round 1
- Invictus Gaming 0-1 Gen.G
- Top Esports 0-1 Hanwha Life Esports
- Bilibili Gaming 0-1 Movistar KOI
- Anyone's Legend 0-1 Karmine Corp
Invictus Gaming, Top Esports, Bilibili Gaming, and Anyone's Legend enter Round 2 with an 0-1 record. All four will face opponents who also lost their opening matches, but none has been eliminated. In the Swiss Stage, three losses mean elimination, while three wins secure a spot in the quarterfinals.
The next matchups will be determined by a draw. Starting in Round 2, teams from the same region can also face each other. Qualification and elimination matches will be played as best-of-three (Bo3) series, while the remaining matches will be best-of-one (Bo1).
