Streamers, Go Live

As the Valorant calendar year winds down, Crown Channel has one more treat up their sleeve. Their annual end year event is here, RE//LOAD, inviting 20 top streamers to duke it out in an ‘IRL exclusive Valorant event.’ According to Crown Channel, RE//LOAD represents a ‘celebration’ of an epic year of Valorant. Not only will there be a faceoff between creators, but it will also be an event to remember.

Crown Channel promised musical figures and guest drop-ins, immersive experiences, and an overall thrilling global celebration. RE//LOAD begins on the 16th of Dec, with more information released as we get closer to the event.

Captains Emerge

Crown Channel has officially announced their four captains for the Valorant content creators team face-off. The captains are Hannah “Bnans” Kennedy, Melanie “meL” Capone, Janet “xChocobars” Rose Xu, and Celine “starsmitten” Cheung.

As of now, three of the four captains have had their team names announced, that being Team RGX (bnans), Team Vengeance (meL), and Team Protocol (starsmitten). “xChocobars” has been confirmed as team captain, however, has yet to announced her team name.

Popular streamer Ali “Myth” Kabbani and Rainbow Six Siege/Valorant host Jacki “Jacki Jing” Jing will perform as hosts for the event.

Event Expectations

In a similar vein to organized event wwFest by Crown Channel and Riot Games in 2020, RE//LOAD is expected to an explosive and exciting festival of celebration for Valorant. The previous event included experimental art, and a music festival. Live performances from artists, dancers, and musicians, supported by VFX and animated backgrounds by Riot Games.

While possibly not entirely the same, RE//load is expected to retain certain aspects of the former. With expectations unclear but high at the moment, Crown Channel interviewed two of the captains for a recap of their feelings of the year 2022.

‘The Valorant community feels different from any other community’ says “starsmitten”. ‘Everyone knows one another, and everyone is very open-minded’ she continues. During her interview, Celine reflects on her year and expressed great excitement for the event, titled as one to challenge and test the invited content creators.

For “meL,” her favorite moment of the year on reflection was the win over Clanless at the VCT Open Qualifier. For Cloud 9 White, the predominant North American all-women’s team, a win in a tournament ‘on equal footing’ meant a great deal to the squad, moreso than any of their other victories. With the ultimate goal of competing at the biggest Valorant events, proving themselves to be more than just a good women’s team but a good Valorant team was a big moment for them.

RE//LOAD as an event, allows content creators in Valorant to celebrate and reflect on their year in an explosion of festivities.
