The last League of Legends update of 2025 is arriving! LoL Patch 25.24 will close out the season with a wave of changes to several champions on the roster. Two of the game's newest champions, Mel and Zaahen, will be getting nerfed as they both threaten to take over the ladder.

Let's take a look at everything coming our way when LoL Patch 25.24 releases on Wednesday, December 3rd!

Mel Gets the Nerf Hammer

Currently, Mel is sitting at a sky-high 45.9% ban rate. Yes, you read that right, Mel gets banned in nearly half of all Solo Queue games. Though her 50.2% win rate may not seem particularly impressive, Mel can be highly frustrating to play against due to her [W] Rebuttal. That, coupled with her most recent damage buffs, means that nobody really wants to deal with the game's newest Mid Laner at the moment.

In Patch 25.24 of League of Legends, Mel's [E] Solar Snare will be receiving several nerfs, both to its overall damage and its mana cost. Overall, this may not make Mel any less frustrating to play against, but it might prove enough to see her ban rate go down to slightly healthier numbers.

Carry Junglers Take a Hit

The final League of Legends patch of 2025 will set out to nerf several carry Jungle champions who have been taking over the ladder across different ranks.

First up, we have Kayn. Lately, Blue Kayn has been proving a little too effective at taking over games once he gets going. For that reason, Shadow Assassin Kayn will be receiving a nerf to his passive damage amplifier.

Then we have Kha'Zix and Master Yi. The former will receive a nerf to his [W] Void Spike damage. The latter, meanwhile, will see his Base HP and AD Growth stats lowered, making it so he's a little easier to deal with at any stage of the game.

Last but not least, we have Zed. The old-timer Mid Lane assassin has turned his attention to the Jungle recently, and will now receive a nerf to his passive monster damage modifier in order to make his clears and objective control just a little weaker.

Sejuani Takes Their Place?

While assassin Junglers take a hit, one of League of Legends' most beloved tank champions in the role will be receiving considerable buffs in Patch 25.24.

The final patch of the year is lowering the cooldown on Sejuani's [Q] Arctic Assault, [W] Winter's Wrath, and [R] Glacial Prison, making it so she's a threat a little more constantly. Additionally, several of her abilities are receiving increased AP ratios, giving Sejuani players a bit more room to start experimenting with new builds.

More Nerfs for Zaahen?

When League of Legends' newest champion, Zaahen, first released with the previous patch (25.23), it was immediately clear that he was too strong for the competition. Just days after his release, Riot released a micropatch in order to nerf Zaahen.

Despite the nerfs, though, Zaahen continues to be one of the strongest champions in the Top Lane, currently boasting a 50.11% win rate, a 19% pick rate, and a whopping 50.3% ban rate. Suffice it to say Zaahen needs another look at.

And that's exactly what LoL Patch 25.24 intends to do. Though the specifics haven't been announced yet, Riot has announced they fully intend to nerf Zaahen in the coming patch.

"We intend to nerf him in 25.24, but haven't yet decided what nerf or by how much and want a bit more information before we act. We don't think he's so overpowered currently that he can stay in this state."

Wrapping Up a Year of League of Legends

LoL Patch 25.24 being the last patch of the year means that whatever changes are made to the game now, we'll be stuck with for the foreseeable future. Overall, 2025 has been a fantastic year for League of Legends, and one that has brought much change to the game, from the addition of the new three-season structure to brand new champions and mechanics.

For now, players should continue to enjoy the Winter Map and take the new patch for a spin before the year draws to a close.
