Earlier today, the results of 2024 LCK Summer Championship sent shockwaves around the League of Legends world, as Hanwha Life Esports upset Gen.G to become the LCK Summer Champions.

With the win, HLE will head to Worlds 2024 as the first seed from Korea, putting an end to Gen.G's golden road in the process.

The built up to the 2024 LCK Summer Finals

Throughout 2024, Gen.G has been an indomitable force in League of Legends. The squad formed around Chovy’s talents completely outclassed every other League of Legends team in the world.

They first dominated and won the 2024 LCK Spring Championship, followed it up with a dominant MSI title win over Bilibili Gaming and finished the 2024 LCK Summer with a 17-1 record.

Earlier in the Summer Playoffs, they made quick work of Hanwha Life, winning the series 3-1, staying on the golden road, destined to win it all.

Their opponents, while strong in their own right, weren’t the favorites. They finished third during the 2024 LCK Spring Split behind T1, but continued to make strides towards getting better and stronger.

Unfortunately,Hanwha Life could not match their own Spring record in Summer Split, but continued impressing the crowd during the Playoffs run. They even took down Faker and T1 in the Lower Bracket to face Gen.G once again for the LCK title.

Despite their resurgence, going into the finals, Gen.G was a heavy favorite, and a team destined to complete the golden road.

Hanwha Life Esports Upset Gen.G

Hanwha Life Esports made the first blow, winning a close battle going 1-0 up against the favored opponents. Gen.G quickly answered back with two of their own, securing series and championship point.

HLE dominated Game 4 to force one last game, with Gen.G starting on the blue side. The final game had Zeka’s Yone completely dominating Chovy’s Corki in mid, helping Hanwha Life Esports lift the 2024 LCK Summer Championship.

Zeka was named the Finals MVP for his impressive performance. With the win, HLE will now be the first seed going into Worlds 2024.

The series loss ends Gen.G’s dreams of completing the golden road. With their eyes set on Europe, the Korean tigers would be hungrier to take the Worlds 2024 title as a consolation prize.

The LCK action will now return for the 2024 LCK Regional Finals, as T1 will try to secure a Worlds 2024 spot against their competitors. Stay tuned on LCK on X/Twitter for the latest updates on the Regional Finals.

Locke in League of Legends: Abilities, Playstyle, Release Date

Riot’s newest champion, Corvin Locke, arrives as a nail-slinging exorcist versed in forbidden rites, shaped by a childhood steeped in Demacian lies and hypocrisy. Born to Demacian occultists, Locke grew up learning a brutal lesson: demons are not the source of humanity’s darkness, but its consequence. That belief drives his mission now—to tear through every soul, expose its hidden rot, and make the world a little more honest, one exorcism at a time.
