The official ESL Counter-Strike X account announced that FaZe Clan has forfeit their EPL S22 Stage 2 opening game against G2 Esports.

A Management Debacle

The forfeit is a result of multiple roster changes FaZe Clan made in recent days. According to the Valve rulebook, an invited team must field at least three unchanged members from the invited roster.

The ESL Pro League S22 invites were sent on July 7 as per Valve’s ruling, and the FaZe roster featured s1mple, EliGE, and rain. But with Twistzz, jcobbb, and Broky joining the EPL roster, the team’s altered core broke the VRS rules.

This has lasting repercussions, as FaZe Clan may have to withdraw from EPL without playing a single match or include rain in their lineup. To make matters worse, the situation only unfolded a few hours before the Stage 2 opening games. They weren’t informed until after they had already called up Twistzz and flown in the new roster.

Fortunately, for the two other events they plan to attend before the Major—CS Asia Championship and IEM Chengdu—these conflicts won’t apply, meaning they can field the new roster before Budapest.

Now FaZe Clan must decide how the rest of ESL Pro League plays out for them. In any case, they begin the Swiss stage already down 0-1.

CS2 Major Revenue Share Changes Are Pushing Organizations Away from Counter-Strike

Valve’s new CS2 Major revenue share ties sticker income to VRS and final placement, removing capsule‑style payouts and concentrating money among top finishers. The result: higher volatility for clubs that relied on sticker cheques, early roster cuts like Gaimin Gladiators, and a narrower field of sustainable CS2 organizations unless the payout model changes.
