Team Falcons took the Dota 2 professional scene by storm this year. The team of diverse talents has quickly risen to success since their formation. Throughout this season, they have secured multiple trophies across various tournaments, establishing themselves as a top contender for the Aegis at The International 2024.

One of the standout players on Team Falcons is their midlaner, Stanislav "Malr1ne" Potorak. He was recently awarded Esports Breakthrough Player of the Year for his outstanding in-game contributions.

The International 2024 marks his TI debut. He is also one of the highest-ranked players in the world in terms of MMR, reaching an impressive 15K. In a recent interview, the young prodigy from Team Falcons shared insights into how he achieved this remarkable milestone and reflected on his personal growth as a player over the years.

Malr1ne's revealed his approach to the tournaments.

Although TI13 marks Malr1ne's debut at The International, this is not the case for his teammates. Team Falcons also boasts two former TI champions, in terms of Oliver "skiter" Lepko and Jingjun "Sneyking" Wu and a seasoned veteran, Andreas "Cr1t-" Nielsen. As one of the top contenders to win the Aegis, the team is likely to face significant pressure. While some players buckle under the weight of expectations, others rise to the challenge.

In his interview, the midlaner of Team Falcons, Malr1ne, shared his approach to preparing for high-stakes tournaments including TI.

"Obviously, I appreciate that I'm being here. My expectations are something usually around the ground. I could place my team as the worst team in the tournaments. I don't want to expect anything to them to disappoint me. It's just pointless to do this."

Malr1ne on his MMR journey

Recently, Malr1ne became the second player in the world to reach 15,000 MMR, achieving this milestone at the boot camp of Team Falcons. While many players opt to spam a few heroes to quickly climb the MMR ladder, others take a different approach. In his interview, Malr1ne shared how he achieved his impressive feat.

" I used to think a lot of about these I would not like abuse but like collect my MMR easily. It's probably a couple of heroes like Huskar, obviously like Pango, Sand King. Then I got 15K when I was in the boot camp. It kinda happens randomly. I was not doing a thing because my brain was already acted the way to the boot camp. I was just try hard-ing and playing for my own growing and it just happens."

Malr1ne on his friendship with ATF

When Malr1ne joined Team Falcons, he was greeted by a familiar face—Ammar "ATF" Al-Assaf. The two had previously played together at Creepwave. In his interview, Malr1ne discusses the unique bond they shared.

"We just in the same connection – we're almost the same age. We're just having connection between each other and we're making fun. A lot of things that we're laughing at and our team does not understand his jokes. We're just like friends outside of Dota and just actually makes our duo good. "

He also shared his thoughts on in-game all chatting, an activity, which he and ATF were fond of doing during the official matches.

" If people ask me who I should blame – I will not say Ammar but it's Ammar. It's actually making the game fun. This all chatting and this relationship between the people make series and games more stressful for people and players. You're doing this for the fans."

Malr1ne on his journey as a pro player

Being a Dota 2 professional player requires not only talent but also a lot of commitment and sacrifice. Malr1ne also gave us a walk-through on his decision to become a professional player.

"Probably when I was around 15 or 16. The time was running out. I need to decide what I actually going to do in my life because there's a choice in University or potentially being a professional player. I even have conversations with my parents that I choose my way and I want to try. At some point they trusted me."

The group stage of The International 2024 has concluded, with Team Falcons securing the top seed in Group C. In the upcoming Seeding Decider series, they will face off against beastcoast. Team Falcons are one of the favourites to lift this year's Aegis. Be sure to visit our website for the latest coverage of all the action at The International 2024.
