Evil Geniuses, the winners of VALORANT Champions 2023, have announced a partnership with Theta Labs to introduce an AI-powered chatbot featuring their lovable critter mascot, Meesh.

The chatbot, built on Theta EdgeCloud’s cutting-edge technology, is designed to enhance fan engagement through interactive experiences on EG’s official Discord server and website.

Meesh, EG’s recently introduced mascot, is now more than just a face for the organization—it’s an AI-powered digital companion that fans can engage with 24/7. Powered by Theta EdgeCloud, Meesh can participate in meme-worthy trash talk, trivia challenges, and personalized interactions. The chatbot also provides fans with up-to-date information on Evil Geniuses, including match schedules, team standings, roster details, player stats, and historical highlights.

Theta Labs: The Tech Behind the Chatbot

Theta Labs, a leader in decentralized cloud infrastructure for AI, media, and entertainment, has powered Meesh’s development. The company has also partnered with FlyQuest in the past for a similar AI initiative.

They operate a vast network of 30,000 distributed edge nodes and a native blockchain. With backing from major industry players such as Samsung, Sony, Bertelsmann Digital Media Investments, and CAA, Theta Labs is at the forefront of AI and blockchain innovation.

Theta EdgeCloud, the platform supporting Meesh, is the first hybrid cloud-edge AI computing solution. Providing over 80 PetaFLOPS of always-available distributed GPU compute power. This allows for real-time API access and seamless fan interactions with EG’s chatbot.

A New Era of Fan Engagement

Beyond answering questions about EG’s esports teams, Meesh offers exclusive opportunities such as giveaways, community events, and real-time access to EG’s latest news. Fans can relive iconic EG moments on demand, making the chatbot a dynamic and immersive experience.

Chris DeAppolonio, CEO of Evil Geniuses, highlighted the significance of AI in esports, stating:

“EG has been a pioneer in utilizing AI to redefine the esports industry. After building multiple AI tools to help our teams scout talent and win championships, it made sense to see how AI can better enable us to engage with our fans. Our partnership with Theta Labs gives our fans the chance to interact with our new mascot on a level we hadn’t imagined. We’ve been thrilled with the reception of Meesh by our fans; everyone has fallen in love with our cute critter, and we can’t wait to bring more Meesh to our community.”

Theta Labs co-founder and CEO, Mitch Liu, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating:

“This partnership with EG comes on the heels of our collaboration with NHL’s Las Vegas Knights, esports teams, and a dozen academic research labs, delivering next-generation agentic AI chatbots to millions of users. I’m excited to see EG’s vision for their community come to life through EdgeCloud as we empower them to create highly immersive AI fan experiences fully integrated into their Discord and website.”

Meesh is now live on EG’s Discord server and website, offering fans an unprecedented level of engagement. Whether it’s for trash talk, trivia, or staying up to date with EG’s latest matches, Meesh is ready to chat.
