ESL Pro League Season 22 reaches its conclusion this Sunday as Team Falcons and Team Vitality prepare to battle for the championship in Stockholm. Both squads have navigated the semifinals to earn their spot in the best-of-5 Grand Finals, with Falcons eliminating MOUZ 2-0 and Vitality outlasting FaZe Clan 2-1.

Before the main event, MOUZ and FaZe will clash in the third-place decider, making Sunday a full day of elite Counter-Strike action.

Falcons Bulldoze Through Semifinals

Team Falcons delivered a clinical semifinal performance against MOUZ on Saturday, securing a 2-0 victory with wins on Inferno (16-13) and Ancient (13-7). Despite MOUZ racing to a 6-0 lead on their Inferno pick, Falcons showcased remarkable composure to mount a comeback. After tying the match at 10-10, Falcons reached map point at 12-10, but MOUZ forced overtime before the favorites eventually closed it out 16-13. Ancient proved far less dramatic, with Falcons controlling the tempo from start to finish.

Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov once again emerged as the series MVP, racking up 39 kills and 83 ADR while delivering crucial AWP picks that unlocked unconventional strategies for his team. The Russian sniper has been in devastating form throughout the playoffs, following up his stellar quarterfinal performance against 3DMAX with another dominant display. NiKo and Kyousuke provided essential support, ensuring Falcons never looked in serious danger despite MOUZ's strong opening on Inferno. The victory extends Falcons' winning streak and confirms their status as championship favorites heading into the Grand Finals.

Vitality Survives Thriller

Team Vitality booked their Grand Finals berth through far more dramatic circumstances, surviving an epic three-map semifinal against FaZe Clan. The match opened on Mirage, FaZe's map pick, where Vitality dominated the first half 9-3 before FaZe mounted a miraculous comeback. Trailing 7-12 on the CT side, FaZe won five consecutive rounds to force overtime, then needed three extra periods to finally secure Mirage 22-20. Justin "Twistzz" Savage delivered a phenomenal 45 kills with 102.9 ADR to keep FaZe's tournament hopes alive.

Vitality responded with authority on Inferno, taking the map 13-9 to level the series before dominating the Dust2 decider 13-8. Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut finished the series with 77 kills and 95 ADR, reminding everyone why he remains one of Counter-Strike's most feared players.

The victory represents Vitality's chance at redemption after months without silverware, and their mental fortitude in bouncing back from the agonizing Mirage loss demonstrates the championship resilience they'll need against Falcons. The French squad will need to maintain this level if they hope to overcome the tournament favorites on Sunday.

Grand Finals Preview

Sunday's best-of-5 championship decider pits two teams trending in opposite directions. Team Falcons enter as heavy favorites after their flawless playoff run, having defeated 3DMAX and MOUZ without dropping more than one map in any series. Their star-studded roster featuring m0NESY, NiKo, and newcomer Kyousuke has found devastating synergy, creating arguably the tournament's most well-rounded lineup. However, their quarterfinal against 3DMAX exposed potential vulnerabilities when they squandered a 9-3 CT-side lead on Nuke, raising questions about composure in high-pressure situations.

Vitality approaches the final hungry to end their trophy drought and prove they belong among Counter-Strike's elite once again. Their semifinal comeback against FaZe demonstrated precisely the mental fortitude required for championship runs, and ZywOo's current form suggests he's peaking at the perfect moment. The defending Major champions will need perfect execution across potentially five maps, as Falcons' firepower has overwhelmed opponents throughout the tournament. The Grand Finals kicks off at 5:00 PM CEST, with the winner claiming $100,000 for the team plus $150,000 for the organization.

Third Place Battle

Before the championship decider, MOUZ and FaZe Clan will meet at 1:30 PM CEST to determine third place and the accompanying prize money. For MOUZ, the match represents an opportunity for redemption after their semifinal defeat, where a promising start on Inferno evaporated against Falcons' relentless pressure. The German organization struggled particularly on Ancient, managing only seven rounds as Falcons controlled the pace throughout. MOUZ will need significant improvements to overcome a FaZe squad that pushed Vitality to the absolute limit.

FaZe's quarterfinal sweep of heavy favorites Team Spirit proved they possess championship-caliber Counter-Strike when firing on all cylinders. They shut down donk and dominated both Nuke (13-8) and Mirage (13-5) through exceptional team play and karrigan's tactical brilliance. Their semifinal heartbreak on Mirage—where they won 22-20 in triple overtime behind Twistzz's heroics—shows they can compete with anyone. With rain's tenure potentially nearing its end, FaZe will be desperate to finish the tournament on a high note and secure the $28,000 third-place prize.

STRAFE's Prediction

While Team Falcons enter as the bookmakers' favorites, STRAFE predicts Team Vitality will claim the ESL Pro League Season 22 championship. ZywOo's ability to elevate his game in crucial moments, combined with the team's demonstrated mental resilience in their semifinal comeback, gives them the edge in a best-of-5 format.

Vitality's experience as Major champions and their hunger to end their trophy drought could prove decisive when the pressure reaches its peak. The French squad has shown they can weather storms and adapt on the fly, qualities that often determine champions in marathon Grand Finals.
