To commemorate the Valorant Competitive 2022 year, Strafe Writers Ganesh and Zen compiled a list of the top player in specific roles. The roles considered were Flex, IGL, Entry, Site Anchor, OPer, Recon, and Controller.

Flex is one of the most interesting roles in Valorant Esports, demanding the players to play various roles on the team. Flex players usually play all the agent roles, which vary with the map. A good flex player can make and break the team. The flex players typically are one of the supporting casts in a team but are perfectly capable of carrying the team. The flex players in Valorant are one of the strongest players in Valorant in general. They are mechanically gifted and have a game sense on a par with all their peers.

The top five Flex players in Valorant 2022 are as follows:

1. Suygetsu:

Dmitry "Suygetsu" Ilyushin arguably is one of the most mechanically talented players in the world. With Shao, Suygetsu carried the FPX to the VCT Masters Copenhagen finals and won the tournament. Playing as a flex, Suygetsu put up impressive stats and clutched unbelievable rounds.

2. Stax:

The IGL of DRX and the rock of the team. Kim "Stax" Gu-Taek was another of the strongest players who played flex. He is one of the most clutch players in the world and has been known to get DRX out of muddy situations. Stax led from the front and made DRX one of the strongest teams in the world. With Stax as the IGL and team's backbone, DRX continued their Korean domination, had strong international finishes, and finished third for the first time at Valorant Champions 2022.

3. d4v41:

It's hard for a player to shine alongside Jinggg and f0rsaken, one of the most potent duos in Valorant. But Khalish "D4v41"  Rusyaidee made a case for himself and played whatever agent the team needed while putting up numbers that were nothing short of his peers. d4v41 carried the team on occasion and helped Paper Rex and APAC reach heights like never before. With the team, d4v41 dominated APAC winning both the challengers uncontested.

4. Asuna:

Peter "Asuna" Mazuryk is arguably the best mechanically talented player in the world. Asuna's movement is second to none, and by taking up the flex role, Asuna pushed to the limit of the flex role. He perfected himself as a role player while still putting up the numbers of a star player. Asuna was the star player for the team as a flex and helped the team secure the VCT NA LCQ 2022.

5. BcJ:

XSET's flex Brenden "BcJ" Jensen was one of the strongest players out of XSET and was responsible for multiple clutches and multi-kill rounds. BcJ played alongside Zekken, a fellow strong flex, and held his own. BcJ's ability was proven on the international stage when he put up consistent numbers playing various agents. BcJ was instrumental in the team's VCT NA Stage 2 Challengers victory over Optic.
