Former LEC and LTA South Champion Coach SeeEl Announces Retirement From League of Legends

Christopher “SeeEl” Lee has announced his retirement from coaching League of Legends.
The former European champion with Rogue and LTA South champion with Vivo Keyd Stars considered returning to coaching but realized his main motivation was wounded pride instead of the passion for the game.
The announcement follows the end of his time with Vivo Keyd, who officially parted ways with him in August. SeeEl now plans to focus on business ventures and revealed that he had received an opportunity involving artificial intelligence and robotics for senior care.
“As of today - and this time for real - I'm formally announcing my retirement from League of Legends coaching. I will not be waiting for the official offseason in October and November.”
SeeEl Explains Why He Decided Against a Return to Coaching
In a post on X, SeeEl said he had seriously considered returning to professional LoL. As he weighed that possibility, however, he noticed a difference from the early years of his career.
“Before, I had worked out of pure passion and love for competition. But this time, I realised I would be coming back out of wounded pride more than anything else.”
The coach also said that esports is no longer the same as it was in 2018. According to SeeEl, he had already achieved his goal of reaching the top to launch a business that would help people in 2022.
He had publicly explored a return. On August 28, 2026, after leaving Vivo Keyd, SeeEl announced that he was open to offers from all regions.
At the time, he said he could work full-time for the next two months but would need flexibility and part-time work afterward.
From Europe to the LTA South Title With Vivo Keyd
Before moving to Brazil, SeeEl worked across several regions. He coached Chiefs in Oceania and worked with Golden Guardians' academy team in North America before taking charge of Vitality.Bee in Europe in 2021.
In 2022, he joined Rogue's coaching staff as an assistant coach. That year, the team won LEC 2022 Split 3 by beating G2 Esports 3-0 in the final and reached the Worlds quarterfinals, where they were eliminated by JD Gaming.
The following season, he worked alongside Peter Dun as Team Heretics' strategic coach. The team finished fourth in the LEC 2023 Summer Playoffs.
SeeEl Made His Mark in Brazil
His move to Brazil became official on December 11, 2023, when Vivo Keyd Stars announced their 2024 roster with SeeEl as head coach. In his first year, the team finished third in CBLOL Split 1 and were runners-up in Split 2, losing the final to paiN Gaming.
The title came on September 7, 2025, when the team defeated RED Canids 3-0 in the LTA South Split 3 final to secure a place at Worlds 2025. They went on to finish second in the LTA's continental championship, the Cross-Conference, after losing the final to FlyQuest 3-1.
At Worlds, VKS finished the Swiss stage with one win and three losses. They beat PSG Talon 2-1 but were eventually eliminated by Bilibili Gaming.
When Did SeeEl Leave Vivo Keyd Stars?
SeeEl stayed with Keyd in 2026 with a revamped roster, but results fell short of expectations. The team finished sixth in both the CBLOL Cup and CBLOL 2026 Split 1.
On May 27, 2026, Keyd announced that SeeEl would leave the coaching staff by mutual agreement.
He became an ambassador while Smiley took over as head coach. In the announcement, VKS also said that personal issues SeeEl had faced during the year had affected some of his decisions.
His time with the organization ended on August 27, 2026, when Keyd published an official farewell. However, the coach had also posted that he was open to offers, giving fans hope that he might coach another Brazilian team.
On stream, he even said that the only teams he would coach in the region were paiN Gaming or Vivo Keyd Stars again.
SeeEl Will Work With AI and Senior Care
SeeEl revealed that several artificial intelligence companies had recently contacted him. One caught his attention for its work with AI and robotics for senior care, a subject he said he was passionate about given aging populations around the world.
There is also a personal connection: he said he was very close to his grandmother and believed the product could help her. According to SeeEl, the opportunity would also allow him to work on his own company at the same time.
