The Call of Duty Rewind map is set in the Liberty Shopping Plaza in West Virginia. It's a medium-sized 6v6 multiplayer map with a mix of long lanes and close-quarter spaces. The design supports all playstyles—snipers, aggressive players, and strategic operators.

This guide breaks down the Rewind map by layout, key locations, suggested loadouts, and movement strategies.

Map Overview

Rewind is shaped by two major lanes that run parallel across the map. These lanes are connected by six crosspoints, allowing for flanking and repositioning. At the heart of the map is a central video store, the most important zone across game modes.

Key Characteristics

The map features a medium-sized layout that’s easy to navigate but still full of tactical options. Two long lanes provide space for snipers and long-range gunfights, while the six crosspoints let players move quickly between lanes. The central Video Store acts as a combat hotspot, while smaller buildings and open zones create a mix of close- and long-range encounters.

Main Points of Interest (POIs)

The Rewind map has five main POIs and three tactical key locations. Each area requires a different approach depending on your loadout and role.

1. Video Store

This is the central hub of the map. It's often where objectives are located, making it a high-conflict zone. Controlling the Video Store early can influence the match. There’s enough cover to hold the space effectively, but you need to be ready for attacks from multiple directions. Teams that lock it down usually dominate.

2. Longshot Lanes

Each side has an open lane designed for long-range battles. These areas are perfect for marksman or sniper rifles. Cover like dumpsters and parked vehicles helps reduce visibility and lets you reposition. Be careful when pushing down these lanes, as enemy players can line up shots from a distance.

3. Freedom Fried Chicken Drive-Thru

This area isn’t as central as the Video Store but is still key to defending objectives. The layout offers more cover and fewer angles for enemy flanks. If you’re holding this spot, it’s easier to manage threats compared to more exposed areas. This makes it a safer choice for defensive strategies.

Tactical Key Locations

These zones can shift the flow of a match. They aren’t the main POIs but often serve as rotation routes or defensive hold areas.

Courtyard Rotation — Alpha (A)

This outdoor mid-map location allows for fast rotation but comes with the risk of open exposure. It’s a key transition point between the map's lanes. Because it's outdoors, enemies can spot you from multiple angles. Use your minimap before entering to avoid ambushes and always move quickly across the space to reduce risk.

“C” Street Sniper Lane — Beta (B)

This sniper lane is ideal for stopping opponents during objective captures, especially at the “C” zone in Domination. The angles are tight, so you don’t need full visibility to land shots. Even if you don’t secure the elimination, taking shots from this lane can slow the enemy long enough for your teammates to contest the point.

Beepers / Cleaners Throughline — Gamma (Γ)

The Beepers and Speedy Cleaners stores are connected by a direct line of sight from one end to the other. Both have cover, but this alignment allows players to shoot across without needing to be inside. These stores become dangerous when not cleared properly, as a player can easily catch you off guard from the far end.

Recommended Loadouts

Different parts of Rewind benefit from different weapon types. Here are three loadouts that fit the map layout well.

Fry Cook Loadout – Assault Rifle

Best for: Balanced play and tactical pushes

  • Use this for entering buildings and mid-range fights.
  • Bash through windows for fast access.
  • Keep moving to avoid getting cornered.

Snapshot SVD – Sniper Rifle + Recon Combat Specialty

Best for: Long-range control and area denial

  • Cover lanes from either side of the map.
  • Place Prox Alarms behind you.
  • Use Recon Specialty to mark enemies after death.

Fire Sale Loadout – SMG + Strategist Combat Specialty

Best for: Rushing and close-quarters

  • Ideal for inside the mall and short hallways.
  • Scavenger keeps your ammo stocked.
  • Use fast movement to surprise slow players.

How to Play Rewind Effectively

Here’s a breakdown of tactics that work well on the Call of Duty Rewind map.

Hold the Center

Controlling the Video Store is key to winning matches. It offers influence over both lanes and nearby objectives. Defending it requires attention to multiple entrances and clear communication with your team. Once your squad controls the store, you can hold pressure on most parts of the map.

Rotate Through Courtyard

The Courtyard is the fastest route across the map but also one of the riskiest. Use it to surprise enemies or shift support quickly. Always watch your minimap for nearby enemies, and move fast to avoid being an easy target.

Mix Loadouts Based on Role

You’ll get better results if you adjust your loadout to your role. If you’re flanking or moving through tight interiors, use an SMG or shotgun. For lane control and covering objectives, assault rifles and tactical rifles are more reliable. Snipers should hold positions like Longshot Lanes or the “C” Street sniper zone to disrupt enemy movement.

Best Strategies Per Game Mode

Domination

Focus on controlling the B zone in the Video Store. Use the sniper lane near the C zone to slow enemy captures or force retreats. Rotate through the Courtyard to support team pushes and retakes.

Hardpoint

Memorize hardpoint rotation order. If you’re outnumbered at one objective, fall back to the Drive-Thru and prepare for the next fight. Always check entrances and rotate early to prevent last-minute pushes.

Team Deathmatch

Try to control the middle of the map to keep pressure on the enemy. Pick one lane and stick to it until it’s cleared. Avoid running through open areas without cover or intel.

Final Thoughts

The Call of Duty Rewind map offers balance for all types of players. Long lanes favor snipers, while interior spaces support fast SMG combat. Understanding each POI, choosing the right rotation routes, and using effective loadouts will improve your performance. The key is to stay mobile, communicate with your team, and play to your strengths. Mastering Rewind takes time, but it rewards players who understand its structure and use it to their advantage.
