With the intense Swiss Stage behind us, eight elite teams have emerged from the pack to compete in the BLAST R6 Montreal Major Playoffs. As they head to the iconic Verdun Auditorium, these teams will battle in front of an electrifying crowd.

Let’s dive into the opening matchups and see our predictions for who might advance as the tournament reaches its peak.

Team Falcons vs. Virtus.pro

Initially viewed as underdogs, Team Falcons have defied expectations with impressive victories over DarkZero and Team Secret. Led by standout player Roberto "Robby" Pintarelli, Falcons have shown they can compete with the best. However, their reliance on Robby raises questions about their ability to deliver under pressure, particularly when facing a more balanced team like Virtus.pro.

Virtus.pro’s journey to the playoffs was not without struggle, but they secured their spot thanks to the veteran players, but mainly Danil "JoyStiCK" Gabov. He has been instrumental in lifting the team out of difficult situations, and Virtus.pro’s well-rounded roster brings a more stable dynamic to the playoffs. They’ve demonstrated resilience and teamwork, which could prove to be the deciding factors against Falcons.

Prediction: While Team Falcons has had an impressive run, Virtus.pro’s team coordination make them the favorites. Virtus.pro’s balanced roster and ability to adapt under pressure should carry them through to the next round.

FaZe Clan vs. Soniqs

FaZe Clan entered the Montreal Major as one of the heavy favorites, and they did not disappoint. With key performances from Victor "VITAKING" Santos and Jaime "Cyber" Ramos, FaZe managed to fight past their opposition. Their experience on the international stage makes them a dangerous opponent in high-stakes environments, where the crowd’s energy can sway a team’s performance. With tactical precision and the firepower to back it up, FaZe looks ready to conquer any challenge that comes their way.

Soniqs were initially not favored to advance, but their incredible resilience has made them a formidable contender. Facing elimination on multiple occasions, Soniqs showcased their tenacity with back-to-back victories, largely due to the resurgence of Damian "Surf" Medina. His ability to bounce back from a rough start has provided Soniqs with a much-needed boost heading into the playoffs. However, inconsistency remains their Achilles’ heel, and that could cost them against FaZe Clan.

Prediction: FaZe Clan’s experience and strong track record make them the favorites here. While Soniqs’ momentum can’t be discounted, FaZe’s skill and consistency should prevail, moving them one step closer to the title.

Team BDS vs. Team Secret

BDS may not have had a flawless Swiss Stage, but their record was strong enough to secure a playoff berth. Despite a single loss to w7m, BDS has shown they’re a team to be reckoned with. Josh "Yuzus" Pritchard has proved himself as a pillar of the team. If BDS’s high-performing players step up, they have the firepower to pose a serious threat to any opponent.

Like Soniqs, Team Secret found their stride in the Bo3 format, with an impressive victory over Team Liquid. Dawid "Gruby" Marciniak and Jake "Virtue" Grannan have delivered exceptional performances to keep the team afloat. However, big-stage experience could be a challenge for Secret, whose recent performances might falter under the playoff spotlight.

Prediction: BDS’s experience on larger stages gives them a slight edge in this matchup. While Team Secret has demonstrated impressive resilience, BDS’s composure and firepower make them likely to advance.

w7m vs. Spacestation Gaming

Despite initial doubts, w7m has proven themselves to be a dominant force, finishing the Swiss Stage with a perfect 3-0 record. Their victories over European powerhouse BDS and a hard-fought 2-0 against Liquid underscore their strength. Denis "Dodez" Navas has led the charge, with the entire team rallying behind his performances. w7m’s momentum and cohesion make them a strong contender for the championship.

SSG had a rocky start but managed to find their form in the Bo3s, with solid team performances across the board. Known for their firepower and ability to upset stronger teams, SSG can be a wild card in the playoffs. However, inconsistency has been a recurring issue, and if they don’t maintain their peak form, they could struggle against a well-coordinated w7m.

Prediction: While SSG has the potential to surprise, w7m’s recent performances and team cohesion make them the favorites. If w7m continues their current form, they should move forward without too much difficulty.

With the crowd adding intensity to each match, anything is possible. The road to victory is within reach, but only the team that can balance skill, composure, and adaptability will advance to the next round.
