BetBoom Team Are the PGL Wallachia Season 8 Champions

It seems that an old meta has resurfaced in this new patch, and as a result, we have BetBoom Team winning PGL Wallachia Season 8. These results change the perspective for upcoming tournaments and paint a new scenario.

Let's take a look at how our grand finalists got to the last day of PGL Wallachia and the implications of these results for the Dota 2 professional scene, adding more uncertainty to the spot of undisputed leader.

Another season of the PGL Wallachia comes to a close on April 26.

BetBoom Team: From Top to Top

We saw BetBoom's run start with a positive omen when they got past the Group Stage in first place. The Eastern European team won three matches against Virtus.pro, Team Liquid and Team Falcons before securing their slot in the Playoffs in Round 3.

Their Playoff debut was also a significant 2-0 victory against Team Spirit. Spirit used to be the best team in Eastern Europe, but despite being two-time champions, they seem to be gradually losing their throne while BetBoom Team and Aurora Gaming fight for the top spot.

After beating Team Liquid, there was no denying that BetBoom Team had a shot at the championship.

In the Upper Bracket Semifinals, BetBoom Team was challenged by Team Liquid once again. The result was another victory, this time by 2-1, turning the tables on Liquid after starting with a map loss.

Finally, the Upper Bracket Final was an Eastern European classic, with BetBoom Team facing their Group Stage counterpart, Aurora Gaming. BetBoom won 2-1 and punched their ticket to the Grand Final, leaving Aurora in the Lower Bracket Final waiting for a challenger.

Aurora Gaming: A Worthy Opponent

On the other side of the Grand Finals, Aurora Gaming proved themselves a worthy opponent for BetBoom every step of the way. This started with Aurora also securing a slot in the Playoffs in the third round of the Group Stage.

In the Playoffs, Aurora Gaming had an arguably easier run, starting off with a 2-0 victory against Heroic. Heroic has been performing well after acquiring a new midlaner but did not manage to overcome Aurora this time.

Aurora Gaming also won an apparently unexpected matchup against Team Falcons.

In the Semifinals, Aurora Gaming turned the tables against PARIVISION. PARI started ahead, winning 1-0, but Aurora Gaming came back and won the matchup before losing to BetBoom in the Finals by 2-1.

Finally, Team Falcons prevailed against Liquid and contested the Lower Bracket Final against Aurora Gaming. Aurora showed that despite their matchups, their strength was real, proving it by beating Falcons 2-0 and advancing to the Grand Final in pursuit of payback.

BetBoom Team Are the PGL Wallachia Season 8 Champions

Finally, we get to the PGL Wallachia Season 8 Grand Final, where BetBoom Team faced Aurora Gaming with everything they had. The result was an unbelievable 3-0 that, despite Aurora's best efforts, crowned BetBoom Team as the new PGL Wallachia champions.

BetBoom Team took home $300,000 for first place, Aurora Gaming also earned an impressive $175,000 for second place and Team Falcons secured $120,000 for third place.

Closing Thoughts

Now, we will have another couple of weeks of preparation before DreamLeague Season 29, which starts on May 13. In the meantime, the ESL Challenger China will decide which Chinese team will receive an invite to the Esports World Cup 2026.

Tundra Esports, Team Yandex, Team Falcons and Team Liquid falling before the Grand Final shows that Dota 2 has no clear favorite in tournaments and makes it harder to know what to expect from the biggest tournaments of the year, which are approaching fast.

For now, BetBoom Team has a lot to celebrate and the responsibility of keeping their skills sharp for the next DreamLeague. We will release our meta analysis soon, so keep an eye on the news section of the Strafe website!
