2XKO officially enters Early Access on October 7, 2025 with Season 0, ushering in the fighting game’s first major updates. Riot Games has rolled out Patch 1.0.1 alongside a follow-up balance patch, 1.0.1.1, scheduled for October 9. With the Early Access launch, all progress is now permanent – champions and cosmetics unlocked will carry over to future seasons, and even to console, once that version releases.

Disclaimer:

Players who participated in the Closed Beta may notice that 2XKO no longer appears in the Riot Client, and attempting to launch it only opens the client itself. This behavior is intentional and not a bug. The game will reappear once the latest build becomes available in your region. Until then, you can continue playing by navigating to the game’s installation directory and launching it using the offline launcher located there.

Here’s a full breakdown of new content, gameplay adjustments, balance changes, and quality-of-life updates arriving in 2XKO’s debut season.

Early Access and Permanent Progression

Season 0 marks 2XKO’s formal shift into a live service format. Unlike in Closed Beta, player accounts will no longer reset. All unlocked champions, cosmetics, and Battle Pass rewards are now permanent.

Additionally, progress made on PC will carry over when the game launches on console, ensuring cross-platform continuity. Riot Games has optimized minimum specs for wide PC compatibility, making Season 0 accessible to more players.

Servers will undergo maintenance on October 9 between 8 am PT and 12 pm PT, temporarily disabling online play as Patch 1.0.1.1 deploys.

New Content Highlights

Closed Beta Player Title

Veterans of the Closed Beta will receive the exclusive “Closed Beta Boss” title automatically within the first week. This can be equipped via Cards and Titles in the Collection tab. No in-game notification will appear when it’s added.

First Step Missions

New players gain access to First Step missions, rewarding them for learning core mechanics. A Champion Token is granted for completing these missions, plus an additional token for finishing the First Fight tutorial.

New Champions: Teemo and Warwick

Two champions debut in Season 0:

Season 0’s champions can be unlocked for 1,000 KO Points or a Champion Token. They remain available in Training and Offline mode for all players, even if not purchased.

Combo Trials

A new tutorial mode offers over 250 champion-specific combos. Completing trials earns credits and helps players master advanced routes.

Training Mode Frame Data Bar

This toggleable tool visualizes frame data, allowing players to refine pressure setups and close execution gaps, a feature present in all other fighting games.

New Stages

  • Bandlewood Crossing – Available for purchase in the Collection tab.
  • Firelight Run – Unlocked via the paid Battle Pass track during Season 0.

System Changes and Gameplay Adjustments (Patch 1.0.1)

Riot has targeted several meta-defining systems and champion balance points from Closed Beta:

  • Reduced strength of Double Down and Super Tag mechanics.
  • Decreased meter gain to prevent overpowered combos.
  • Specific tuning to bring Jinx, Ekko, and Yasuo closer to the roster’s average power, while slightly improving Braum and Blitzcrank.
  • Made Ahri and Vi combo consistency more reliable.

Air Blocking Changes

Players can now act mid-air after blocking attacks, opening counterplay against moves like Vi’s Crater Maker and Blitzcrank’s Garbage Collection. Throw invuln after aerial block increased from 5 to 8 frames.

Break Adjustments

Opponents recover from Break hits 10 frames earlier, toning down its reward. Air collision and hurtboxes have been unified for consistent interactions.

Input and Assist Changes

  • Retreating Guard is now performed only by holding back, fixing option select advantages.
  • Assist cooldown now starts instantly after the assist leaves the screen, increasing assist availability.
  • Fixed numerous bugs tied to Break recovery, projectile disappearance after certain supers, and rare input drops after running jumps.

Patch 1.0.1.1 – October 9

Finally, 2XKO Ranked launches alongside Patch 1.0.1.1 changes, incorporating backend improvements for matchmaking. Key adjustments:

  • Increased average queue times to allow for tighter skill matching.
  • Placement matches now align more closely with expected ranks.
  • Reaching Challenger is more demanding, with higher time investment required.

Core Gameplay Changes in 1.0.1.1

Break Rewards

Break advantage reduced in most scenarios, especially outside of Handshake Tag situations.

Meter Gain Reduction

Advanced combos now yield less meter over time, with steep penalties at durations past 11 seconds. Spending meter applies a temporary meter gain penalty for 8 seconds.

Handshake Tag Changes

Gray health now accumulates normally after Handshake Tag, removing its unrecoverable damage advantage.

Fuse Adjustments

  • Juggernaut starts rounds with 75% Break meter instead of 100%. The meter no longer resets between rounds.
  • Double Down & Sidekick Supers have increased damage penalties (30% vs. 20% before).
  • 2X Assist cooldown doubled after activation (4 seconds).
  • Sidekick Supers restricted to one Double Down use per combo.

Tutorial and QoL Updates

Patch 1.0.1.1 brings upgrades to the tutorial interface and First Fight visuals. Completing tutorials now grants avatar items.

Quality-of-life changes include:

  • Improved Assist meter readability.
  • Added exit game confirmation dialog.
  • Added in-client News section for store promotions.
  • Expanded Credit cap from 10,000 to 12,000.
  • Narrator accessibility feature to read UI elements aloud.

Bug Fixes (Patch 1.0.1.1)

  • Champions entering via Eject can no longer be thrown instantly.
  • Fixed overlapping pause menu visual bugs.
  • Training bots now behave correctly after Break recovery, getup attacks, and parries.
  • Corrected blocking behavior from assists in Training mode.

Known Issues

Players should ensure their Riot Account region matches their intended play region, as mismatched regions can cause poor connection quality. Riot’s Player Support page lists current errors and solutions.

Store and Cosmetics

2XKO Season 0 opens the in-game store, offering:

Battle Pass

Features a free track with rewards like the Rift Quest Teemo skin, avatar clothing, stickers, a player card, title, and finisher. The premium track has Standard, Deluxe, and Ultra purchase options.
