After more than eight years competing at the top level of the North American League of Legends scene, 100 Thieves have announced they will leave the LTA once the 2025 season draws to a close.

The team currently competes in the LTA North Conference as a Provisional Guest Team, and Riot Games has already made the decision to go with another organization for the slot in the upcoming 2026 season.

100 Thieves: Saying Goodbye to a Devoted Organization

It was all the way back in 2017 that 100 Thieves made a splash by joining the LCS, fielding some of the most historic players in the region such as William "Meteos" Hartman and Zaqueri "aphromoo" Black. Eight years later, 100 Thieves say goodbye after winning the LCS once (2021) and representing the region at Worlds a total of four times (2018, 2021, 2022, and 2024).

When the LCS transitioned into the LTA at the start of 2025, 100 Thieves announced it would be taking the slot of Provisional Guest Team in the league. As we approach the final Split of the season, the team has now announced that it was Riot Games' decision to look elsewhere to fill that guest slot moving forward, marking an end to 100 Thieves' journey in the LTA.

"To our dedicated community and unwavering fans, we will have a proper send-off throughout this final season to celebrate, remember, and commemorate our lifelong bond to North American League of Legends. Your loyalty and passion surrounding League of Legends is what helped shape 100 Thieves to what it is today."

What's Next for 100 Thieves?

For the time being, it remains unclear what the future holds for 100 Thieves when it comes to League of Legends. While the team will no longer compete in the LTA, they could still look to continue competing elsewhere. The organization's devotion to esports is often met with equally devoted fan bases across the games in which they compete: VALORANT, Call of Duty, Apex Legends, Street Fighter, and Marvel Rivals, among others.

Whether 100 Thieves choose to continue their League of Legends journey later on remains to be seen. For now, it's time to say goodbye to a team that helped shape the North American scene over the years.

Who Will Join the LTA?

With 100 Thieves exiting the LTA, the slot will need to be filled by a new organization entering the scene. For now, no official announcement has been made as to which team seeks to live up to the challenge. What we do know is that whoever it is will be committed to join the league as a "long-term partner" of the LTA.

With Sentinels already eyeing a move into Counter-Strike, as well as their overwhelming support in the North American VALORANT scene, could the organization also be looking to enter the LTA in 2026?

"The LTA has made the decision to move forward with identifying and onboarding long-term a North American partner to fill the slot beginning in the 2026 season. This marks a deliberate and strategic step toward building a more sustainable and stable future for the league, while ensuring strong regional representation for years to come. We look forward to announcing this new partner in the coming months."
