Currently, League of Legends (often referred to as LoL) is one of the most popular eSports in the world, with a life span of over 12 years. League of Legends has been the most played game internationally since 2012. Riot Games has dominated the online gaming scene for over five years. If you're an avid gamer, then you have most definitely heard of LoL at some point. League of Legends is a highly complex game with a long learning process, but with knowledge comes power.
Each map in League of Legends is split into three lanes. These are walkways that lead to each team's Nexus. They are designed to funnel players towards one another and towards enemies, turrets dotting each lane. Turrets are large structures that will attack an enemy if they come too close. Each team will have their own strategy when it comes to which lanes they focus on and the tactics they use to push forward.
In League of Legends, teams begin on opposite corners of the map, and the winning team at the end of the match will have destroyed the other team's Nexus. In order to do this, they must destroy the other team's players as well as AI-controlled enemies, known as "minions", populating the map.
League of Legends has six categories for champions:
The concept for League of Legends was conceived at an event called the DotA All-Stars LAN in 2005, a meeting of the original developer of the Warcraft 3 mod Defence of the Ancients (DOTA), or DOTA, which was created by Steve 'Guinsoo' Feak and the mods administrator of support base Steve 'Pendragon'.
League of Legends started as an idea rather than as a finished product. The game that existed a year before its release was not of the best quality.
League of Legends is the reigning MOBA king. There are more champions in this game than you could hope to become an expert with in a single lifetime. It's free, too. Thanks to Riot Games and one of the best gaming communities around. You can easily find your own champion skin. If your PC has at least a 2 GHz processor, it'll pass the minimum requirements for CPU
Initially released on only two platforms, League of Legends is now available for mobile phones and PC via ARAM mode, which is also very interesting. You'll find champions like Xerath and more in the list.
League of Legends: Wild Rift is a pretty big deal, and is set to come out on consoles soon. It'll add even more to the list of platforms where the game is playable, and it may have just added a new one to the top.
Naturally, when a game is on so many different platforms, it's only natural that gamers want to know if it has cross-play or not. After all, no one in 2022 wants to buy different hardware just to play a game with their friends, as they should be able to play it regardless of their platform as long as everyone has the same version.
In total, there are three types of cross functionalities to be found in modern-day video games. The first and most important one is cross-platform multiplayer, which means that gamers should be able to play online with their friends irrespective of what platform they're on.
For example, someone on an Xbox One should be able to play the game with their friends on a PlayStation 4 or PC as long as they're on the same version of the game.
