How to Read the Call of Duty Team Rankings Table

The Call of Duty team rankings table reflects the current competitive strength of professional teams using Strafe's performance-based Rating model.

Each team row includes:

  • Rank
  • Rating
  • Win Rate
  • Matches
  • Recent Form

These rankings are built to measure live performance. They do not represent lifetime CDL points, franchise history, or championship count.

Rank and Rating

In the Call of Duty team rankings, Rank is determined strictly by Rating. The team with the highest Rating holds the #1 position.

The Rating score reflects:

  • Recent match results
  • Strength of opponents
  • Consistency
  • Results over time

Recent matches are weighted more heavily than older ones. Beating strong opponents increases Rating more than defeating lower-ranked teams.

Small Rating gaps near the top are meaningful because they reflect repeated results against elite competition. Lower in the table, similar gaps may be influenced by volatility or smaller match samples.

These rankings measure current strength — not historical CDL achievements.

Win Rate and Matches

Win Rate shows the percentage of matches won. However:

  • 75% over 8 matches ≠ 65% over 40 matches
  • Larger sample sizes create stronger reliability
  • Short streaks can temporarily inflate win rate

The Matches column provides necessary context for evaluating stability behind a team's position in the rankings.

Team Form (Recent Results)

Recent Form tracks the last five matches (W/L).

It helps identify:

  • Momentum
  • Short-term performance swings
  • Potential ranking shifts

Because recency is prioritized in Strafe's Rating system, strong recent results can move teams upward quickly.

What the Rating Score Represents

The Rating in the Call of Duty team rankings is calculated using:

  • Recent matches
  • Strength of opponents
  • Consistency
  • Weighted recency

The system behaves similarly to an ELO-style ranking, but specifically follows Strafe's weighted opponent-strength and recency model. Teams are sorted by Rating to assign Rank.

Best Teams vs Most Successful Teams

The best Call of Duty teams right now are not automatically the most historically successful organizations.

There is a distinction between:

  • Historical success (titles, brand value, legacy rosters)
  • Current strength (recent weighted performance)

A historically dominant team may sit outside the top of the rankings if recent results decline. Conversely, a rising roster can climb quickly if they consistently defeat strong opponents.

Recent months matter more than previous seasons in a live performance ranking.
