Heartbreak.

The Valorant North American Challengers League Play-In Relegations have just ended, and the results are in. Turtle Troop and OREsports will continue their journey in the 2024 NAVCL season. Meanwhile, MAD Lions and Disguised say goodbye to their VCL spots and will have to re-earn them through another run through the grueling Open Qualifiers in 2024.

Bitter Taste

Both Disguised and MAD Lions ended the NACL Split 1 with massive struggles. Their performances and results demanded changes, however, in the case of both these teams, these changes ended up having little impact, and they both ended the season in dire straits. The roster changes for MAD Lions, swapping out a total of 3 players in the end from the original Dark Ratio lineup, only displayed worse results. Disguised had a rotating door of talent, with players like “Steel”, “Exalt”, and “XXIF” going inactive on the roster at some points or another. With IGL-struggles, even despite “Exalt” picking it up, role struggles between “clear” and “yay”, the roster was sinking even faster.

Good signs

Despite a decent showing this split, Turtle Troop’s fall to relegation was due in large part to their underwhelming performance last split. However, their undefeated run through the relegations will do great work towards reinvigorating the players and instilling greater confidence in them.

OREsports powered up well for relegations. Their average performance across both splits was not enough to save them from relegations, however, when their backs were against the wall, they showed enough strength to save themselves.

Both Turtle Troop and OREsports will re-join the rest of the teams for the upcoming 2024 Challengers League season (bar the Ascended roster should that happen).
