The 2024 LEC Winter Regular Season finished two weekends ago with Karmine Corp unfortunately not making it to playoffs. They ended their debut split in the LEC at 2-7. On February 5th, KC made a press release regarding their head coach Jakob "YamatoCannon" Mebdi, stating that he will no longer be a coach moving forward with the roster. More information on this matter can be found here.

After a few days, YamatoCannon made a direct response to the situation in a YouTube video titled: "RE: Karmine Corp LEC 2024".

Response Breakdown

YamatoCannon begins his response by expressing his gratitude for the support he received from KC's fans and others. He continues to say that he could not have predicted the decision that KC's management made. He did not see "the writing on the wall" and believes KC made a poor decision.

The Swedish head coach believed that KC's roster should have given him more chance. He understands that he can't control general business decisions, but he believes that more time with the roster would improve performance overall. YamatoCannon argues that building a deeper connection from coach-to-player and player-to-player will create a stronger team, i.e. through better communication and teamplay dynamics. He makes his final argument stating that they should not have let him go because he did not have enough time to nurture these skills and relationships as much as he hoped.

YamatoCannon then proceeds to speak against others' views on how KC should have removed specific players instead of the head coach. He believes the roster should stay the same regardless of the critique the team has faced in the past weeks.

To conclude, Yamato talks about his high hopes for KC's current roster and how he looks forward to their success in future splits. He only hoped that he could continue with them in the upcoming split and to be with them when they reach the top of the leaderboard. YamatoCannon mentions that he has no interest in joining any other esports organization except KC. He then says that his relationships with the people he worked with at KC are in good standing and there is no drama between them.

In the final parts of his video, YamatoCannon states he will be hosting an AMA (Ask Me Anything) soon. However, the details of that event are still unclear as of now.
