The 2022-2023 DPC Season has nearly come to an end, with only The International 2023 left. However, there have been various ranking issues amongst DPC teams. Fortunately, Valve finally stepped in to resolve the concerns.

Although Valve is yet to announce the changes they made publicly, the updated DPC teams now align correctly with the twelve teams from Liquipedia, thus bringing clarity and transparency to the teams qualified for The International 2023.

The Previous Controversy & Corrections

In the past year, Valve’s error in the DPC team ranking led to a controversy. An Eastern European team lost their guaranteed invitation to The International 2022 due to Valve’s miscalculations, giving Fnatic their supposed invite. The incident spread like wildfire, sparking debate, concerns and controversies about the consistency and accuracy of Valve’s DPC teams ranking system.

For the 2022-2023 DPC season, after the conclusion of The Bali Major, Valve’s International Standing shows the correct list of the twelve teams. The teams will be travelling to Seattle for The International 2023. Eight additional teams, which will secure their Ti12 seats through the qualifiers, will join the directly invited twelve teams. The qualifiers will commence on August 17th, with Western Europe and South America sending two teams and the other regions sending a team each.

Valve resolves DPC Teams Ranking Issues for TI12

Valve’s DPC team ranking has faced criticism because of its inconsistencies and inaccuracies. Recently, the issue was with the allocation of DPC points to the teams which got eliminated during the group stages of The Bali Major, raising questions about the integrity of the DPC ranking system. Despite their early elimination from the tournament, the four eliminated teams, Nouns, Blacklist Rivalry, Execration and Bleed Esports, received an unexplained 300 DPC bonus points out of nowhere.

Moving Forward

However, Valve was quick on its feet, recorrecting the mistakes after the end of the Bali Major. Its actions reassure the community about the qualification process for The Internationa 2023. Now as The Riyadh Masters 2023 are officially underway, the community is eagerly waiting for the official announcement from Valve about the qualified teams for Ti 12.
