Team Vitality breaks Faze Clan’s LAN streak to win the BLAST Premier: Fall Final

Until last night, Faze Clan were 3/3 in the LAN finals, winning all the S-tier tournaments since the esports’ transition to CS2. Last night, at Copenhagen’s Royal Arena, Team Vitality broke Faze Clan’s CS2 LAN Finals streak. Zywoo and co. broke the last standing Dane’s back to win the BLAST Premier: Fall Final, the team's first CS2 trophy.

The second last tournament of the BLAST Premier series, Fall Final featured eight teams and two stages. We have already covered the tournament format and the group stage for the tournament.

Let’s look at the events following the group stage.

BLAST Premier: Fall Final - Road to the Finals

The Quarterfinals of BLAST Premier Fall Final started with Cloud9 taking on Heroic. In the game, Cloud9 took down a wounded Heroic to secure the semifinals.

The second Quarterfinal saw Natus Vincere without their star s1mple losing to Complexity after winning the first map. Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski was the MVP for Complexity with a 59/45/16 record.

In the first Semifinal, Team Vitality took on Cloud9. The game started with an OT win for Vitality but C9 forced a third map by winning map 2. The final map was very close but Team Vitality won with a 13-11 score.

On the other side of the bracket, Faze Clan took on Complexity. The Bo3 match went the distance with Faze Clan and Complexity exchanging the first two maps. In the final map, Faze Clan secured a strong lead in the first half and converted it to a 13-7 victory to secure their fourth grand finals.

Team Vitality take down Faze Clan to secure BLAST Premier: Fall Final

The stage was set, Faze Clan have dominated the LAN finals till date. They have held strong and secured three back to back S tier tournaments and are a win away from a fourth title.

This is only Team Vitality’s second CS2 tournament and first without Magisk. Moreover, for their first finals, Team Vitality will face the undefeated Faze Clan, a team dominating the new CS2 esports.

Everyone expected the game between the Chosen One Mathieu “Zywoo” Herbaut and Mr. Counter-Strike himself Robin “Ropz” Kool to go the distance. But the game was anything but.

Vitality absolutely trashed Faze Clan on Vertigo, winning the first map 13-3.

Faze Clan displayed signs of life in the second match, securing an early lead. But Vitality answered back in the second half to win the map 13-11. With the map win, Vitality secured the Fall Final title.

BLAST named Zywoo the MAERSK MVP of the tournament.

The Aftermath:

A win for Team Vitality’s new roster gives hope to the French Counter-Strike fans. Moreover, after two tournaments, finally Faze Clan’s dominant streak comes to an end.

Despite the loss, the Faze boys won’t stop anytime soon. They are easily at the peak of their individual forms and will be trophy contenders at the upcoming tournament.

With the conclusion of the Fall Final we now have the eight teams playing the BLAST Premier: World Final. The list includes Heroic, Team Vitality, Faze Clan, MOUZ, G2 Esports, Natus Vincere, ENCE and Cloud9.

The BLAST Premier: World Final will be the final tournament of the year and will kick off on December 13th.
