On the final day of the Perfect World Shanghai Major, Team Spirit cemented their legacy by defeating FaZe Clan in a grueling best-of-three series. Team Spirit 2-1 FaZe Clan

The grand finals kicked off on FaZe Clan’s pick of Nuke, but the match was anything but smooth sailing for FaZe. Team Spirit took control early, displaying impeccable coordination and firepower. Boris "magixx" Vorobyev and 17-year-old prodigy Danil "donk" Kryshkovets were instrumental in Spirit’s success. With their dominance on full display, Spirit secured the map 13-8, taking an early lead in the series.

Ancient, Team Spirit’s map pick, saw a stunning turnaround as FaZe Clan roared back to life. Despite magixx and donk continuing their stellar performances, Robin "ropz" Kool emerged as the standout player for FaZe. His exceptional gameplay propelled FaZe to a 13-6 victory, forcing a decisive third map.

The final showdown on Dust 2 delivered high-octane action from start to finish. Team Spirit’s CT side proved formidable, with magixx and donk leading the charge once again. Although Håvard "rain" Nygaard fought valiantly to keep FaZe in contention during their CT side, Team Spirit’s relentless aggression ultimately proved insurmountable. Dmitriy "sh1ro" Sokolov sealed the map in the final round of regulation, securing a 2-1 series victory for Team Spirit.

The Accolades

A Landmark Achievement for Team Spirit

This monumental win marked Team Spirit’s first Major title and their second Major appearance of 2024. It was also the seventh Major appearance in the organization’s history. For the current roster, this triumph was their inaugural Major victory, showcasing the team’s rapid ascent throughout the year.

Danil "donk" Kryshkovets Shines

Danil "donk" Kryshkovets, the 17-year-old sensation, was named the MVP of the tournament for his electrifying performance throughout the series. As one of the brightest young talents in Counter-Strike, donk’s dominant showing in Shanghai solidifies his status as a contender for the number one player of 2024.

Heartbreak for FaZe Clan

For FaZe Clan, the loss was a bitter pill to swallow. Having reached the Grand Finals of a Major for the second time in 2024, they were once again denied the ultimate prize. Despite valiant efforts from players like ropz and rain, FaZe must now regroup and look ahead to the 2025 season.

As the 2024 Counter-Strike season concludes with Team Spirit’s historic victory, the stage is set for an even more competitive 2025. While Spirit celebrates their well-deserved triumph, other teams will reflect, regroup, and aim to rewrite their fortunes in the new year. The Perfect World Shanghai Major will be remembered as a defining moment for Team Spirit and an exciting chapter in CS2 history.
