Complexity Gaming has announced the benching of Ricky "floppy" Kemery, marking the end of his tenure with the organization after over two years. The decision also includes parting ways with assistant coach James "JamezIRL" Macaulay, who had served the team for 1.5 years.

These changes come on the heels of Complexity's disappointing performance at the Perfect World Shanghai Major, where the team failed to progress beyond the Opening Stage, finishing with a 2-3 record. Losses to FlyQuest, Passion UA, and BIG underscored their struggles at the event.

Performance Struggles and Roster Decisions

Complexity's recent form has been far from ideal. In addition to the Shanghai Major disappointment, the team has struggled to make meaningful runs at IEM Rio 2024, ESL Pro League Season 20, and the BLAST Premier Fall Showdown 2024.

Individually, floppy's form has declined over the year, with a less-than-ideal showing at the Major, and an even poorer one at IEM Rio. These performances have drawn the attention and ire of many. Especially after Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski, Complexity’s star player, stated that the team was prepared to make significant changes to improve for the 2025 season.

Graham "messioso" Pitt, Complexity’s general manager, shared insights with Dust2.us about the decision:

"Unfortunately, we have reached a point where we no longer saw a future with these five players together, having exhausted many options to try and re-find the form and consistency we showed back in the early days of CS2."

What’s Next for Complexity?

With floppy now benched, Complexity is actively searching for a replacement ahead of the 2025 season. The team is likely looking for fresh talent to reinvigorate their roster and align with their ambitions for a more competitive year.

This marks the end of an era for one of Complexity’s long-standing players. And signals a turning point as the organization strives to rebuild its presence in the competitive scene.

CS2 Major Revenue Share Changes Are Pushing Organizations Away from Counter-Strike

Valve’s new CS2 Major revenue share ties sticker income to VRS and final placement, removing capsule‑style payouts and concentrating money among top finishers. The result: higher volatility for clubs that relied on sticker cheques, early roster cuts like Gaimin Gladiators, and a narrower field of sustainable CS2 organizations unless the payout model changes.
