In the VCT Pacific Week 3 Game, Talon took on the Pacific Giants of DRX. To take on the first seeds of the League, Talon prepped an interesting triple duelist setup. While the composition was interesting and had some major threats, DRX answered back well and Talon lost the first map. In the second map, Talon’s aggression with Reyna in the composition worked really well. But DRX’s team synergy answered it well and they secured the second map to win the series. Post Game, Strafe had an opportunity to interview Patiphan “Patt” Chaiwong. In an exclusive one-on-one interview, Talon Patt talks about the team's preparation, game and more.

Q. First of all, sorry for your loss. Can you explain the thought process behind running the triple duelist set-up on Pearl?

Talon Patt: “It was Foxz’s idea. In scrims we did pretty okay but could not translate it in the game.”

Q. Why weren’t you on the Jett role on Split over Sushiboys?

Talon Patt: “I think it’s because I want to play back more. I think I am more valuable that way. Back then when I was playing Jett it was because I was the best aimer so I was forced to play Jett. I was always the second duelist never really a Jett main”

Q. You got really close on Pearl, where do you think you lost the game?

Talon Patt: “To be honest, We didn’t really scrim Pearl. We didn’t have enough time to practice. The composition was random, we prepped it before the ZETA win. It was random, so that's why we lost. Since we had zero time”

Q. Talon was one of the strongest teams going into the VCT Pacific. But we haven’t seen much from you guys. What do you think is the problem?

Talon Patt: “I think it’s because of less Scrim time. We did pretty good in Lock//in with the amount of practice. But when time came to switch me in, we had a week of scrim. So I think it’s our management and we aren’t practicing enough.”

Q. Is it hard to juggle between roles? Is that hindering your performance?

Talon Patt: “From now on, I will probably stick to the flex role. In the first two matches, It was kinda random since we kept switching compositions and roles and I think it is a bit hard to adjust to every agent. I need to switch my play style depending on the agent. But I will stick to one role, play a little chill and flank.”

Q. You returned to competitive Valorant after a year in break. What do you think changed in competitive Valorant?

Talon Patt: “I think it’s just more utils, new agent comes out. You don’t even see the enemy, you just see a lot of utils. It’s harder to run it down mid but yeah it's a good way. The game has become more tactical”

Q. Why is it easy for Overwatch pros to switch over to Valorant?

Talon Patt: “Both games are different, it comes down to mindset. If a player is ready to adjust, it won’t matter what game he comes from”

Q. Who do you think will be the toughest match from the rest of the season?

Talon Patt: “Y’all know, It’d be Paper Rex”

Q. What changes do you think Talon needs to win the next six games?

Talon Patt: “We just have to scrim more and I think that’s it. We just have to scrim more and work on our flaws”

Q. What are your thoughts on Global Esports, your next opponent?

Talon Patt: “We just have to watch their VODS and prepare for them accordingly. I do agree they are looking dangerous but it is a must win for us”

Q. What are your expectations from the season?

Talon Patt: “We just wanna go to Masters Tokyo. If we can’t we’d reach Champions via LCQ”

Talon faces Global Esports in the next game, Both teams haven’t yet won a series. After the game, at least one team will come out on top. Both Global Esports and Talon look dangerous and come close to winning the match-up.
