Today, Shopify Rebellion announced via X that Sean "sgares" Gares, former professional player and content creator, has been appointed as the General Manager of Tactical FPS at the organization. This marks an exciting new chapter for both Gares and the organization, with major goals set for the future.

With this new role, his first goals will be to rebuild the VALORANT Challengers roster. And enter the competitive Counter Strike scene later on as well.

From Player to Content Creator to Leadership

Sgares has been with Shopify Rebellion since March 2023, initially joining as a content creator. His focus was on educational content, helping newer VALORANT players understand the intricate details of the game. Gares’ experience and deep knowledge of the FPS genre quickly made him a fan favorite, building a strong relationship between him and the community.

Before joining Shopify, Sean "sgares" Gares was well-known for his work as an analyst and commentator for various Riot Games events and briefly served as head coach for 100 Thieves during the 2022 season. Prior to this, he had a notable career as a player and in-game leader in CS:GO, competing with teams such as Complexity, TSM, and most famously, Cloud9.

Vision for Shopify Rebellion

With his appointment as GM of Tactical FPS, sgares has big plans to steer Shopify Rebellion toward greater success. He shared his vision on X, outlining that rebuilding the organization's Challenger team is at the top of his priority list.

"Right now I'm looking to rebuild the challenger team [and] win Challengers next year. That's the top of the priority list all throughout the offseason."

Along with his focus on VALORANT, Sgares also mentioned about building and getting into the Counter Strike scene. However, with his unfamiliarity with competitive CS2, he mentioned that it might take some time for him to reacquaint himself after being away for so long. He expressed a desire to catch up on developments within the game that he may have missed over the last few years.

Along with this announcement, sgares also put out an open call for tryouts for semi-pro players. For players with top-level experience who believe they should have shot at the big leagues, he encourages them to shoot him a DM either on Twitch, or via email. This open callout is for both VALORANT and Counter Strike.

Despite his new role, Gares reassured fans that his content creation will continue. He remains committed to staying active within the community, stating that although managing the team will be his main focus, he will still produce content regularly.
