End Season Celebration

It is the end of the year for Valorant, with the competitive calendar winding down in the off-season and we prep for the new year of competition. Amidst the gearing up of teams and content creators brainstorming new year content, Riot Games, in collaboration with Crown Channel, has organized an end-of-the-year celebration for all things Valorant.

On Friday Dec 16th, Crown Channel hosted a team challenge consisting of four teams. The teams had a mix of content creators and professionals. The teams were Team Vengeance, Team Protocol, Team RGX, and Team Undercity. The event also included an appearance and performances from DJ Dabin and Mike Dimes.

Valorant themed games were also organized between teams, with quizzes such as guess the agent voiceline and guess the weapon skin from audio. Moreover, as expected, there was also a friendly competition of Valorant between the four teams.

Familiar Faces

The event was hosted by Ali “Myth” Kabbani and Jacki “Jacki Jing” Jing and featured four team captains. Here is the full list of the teams and their members.

Team Undercity:

  • Janet “xChocoBars” Rose Xu (Captain)
  • Peter “peterpark” Park
  • Ryan “itsRyanHiga” Higa
  • Danny “Shiphtur” Le
  • Luke “Punz”

Team Vengeance:

  • Melanie “meL” Capone (Captain)
  • Kyedae “Kyedae” Alicia Shymko
  • Alexis “alexis” Guarrasi
  • Jessica “Jessica” Hyojeong Kim
  • Alan “ethos” Ruan

Team RGX:

  • Hannah “Bnans” (Captain)
  • Timmy “iiTzTimmy” An
  • Lulu “LuluLuvely”
  • Justin “just9n” Ortiz
  • Michael “shroud” Grzesiek

Team Protocol:

  • Celine “starsmitten” Cheung (Captain)
  • Albert “BoxBox” Zheng
  • Jackie “Stewie2k” Yip
  • Jonas “AverageJonas” Navarsete
  • Kimi “AngelsKimi” Park

Entertainment for the Masses

The Valorant competition portion of the event was unarguably the highlight of the event, with the four teams facing off in a Bo1 format against one another. Team Protocol faced off against Team RGX and Team Undercity faced off against Team Vengeance.

Led by “Starsmitten,” the team faced off against a stacked “Bnans” led roster that included names such as “iiTzTimmy” and “shroud,” both of whom have stated intents to join the Valorant professional circuit. Moreover, Team Protocol was missing crucial firepower in the absence of “Stewie2k”. Due to external issues, Chris “Flexinja” Irvine subbed in for Team Protocol.

Team RGX had a blistering lead of 9-3, but after the halftime switch, the dreaded curse reared its head and Team Protocol would eventually take it on overtime. On Team Vengeance’s side, it was fairly one-sided as the team would scorch the competition to a win. In the finals, with Team Vengeance facing off against Team Protocol, it was once more no competition for the “meL” led team as they blitzed the opposition.

Event to Cap off the Year

After a year of thrilling Valorant, in all its shapes and forms, Riot Games’ decision to create an event that allowed them to showcase the best of the community. Fan-favourite streamers such as “xChocobars,” “peterpark,” and “Jae Park” competed alongside competitors like “meL” and “alexis.” A variety of activities and competitions allowed the best of Valorant’s community to shine. As the Senior Director of Brand Marketing for Riot, Nikki Lewis mentions: ‘Valorant lives at the intersection of competitive gaming and up-and-coming music…’
