The Overwatch World Cup Cheer Rally Event is now live, running alongside the sixth edition of the Overwatch World Cup. During the event, players have an excellent chance to earn up to 15 Esports Loot Boxes, XP, OWWC skins, and other cosmetics.

The OWWC playoffs will take place at BlizzCon 2026 on September 12–13, with the in-game event concluding shortly after on September 14. The tournament, which began on August 20, is set to wrap up on September 13 following a two‑day playoff bracket featuring eight national teams.

As in past iterations, the 2026 playoffs will be held during BlizzCon at the Anaheim Convention Center in California. Blizzard has a full slate of activities planned for the event, including a live performance by K‑Pop group LE SSERAFIM, an in‑game collaboration with the group, and various viewership rewards available through Twitch and YouTube drops.

How Does the Overwatch World Cup Cheer Rally Event Work?

Similar to recent Overwatch events, the World Cup Cheer Rally features its own event currency, "Cheers", which players must accumulate through in‑game challenges. Additionally, a few Cheers can be earned by tuning into the BlizzCon 2026 livestream.

Once you have enough Cheers, you can select a conference of your choice — AMER, ASIA, or EMEA — and donate Cheers to earn rewards. Note that you're not locked into a single region; you can donate to any conference in any order. However, to maximize your Loot Box earnings, it's recommended to fully complete one conference before moving on to the next.

At the end of the event, the most popular conference will unlock a conference‑themed weapon charm and a special easter egg in various maps.

How to Earn Cheers in Overwatch

Players can earn Cheers during the Overwatch World Cup Cheer Rally Event by completing three types of challenges: Daily, Weekly, and Milestone.

Every day, the game features four new daily challenges, each awarding 125 Cheers. Over the course of the event, that adds up to 56 daily challenges in total, allowing players to collect up to 7,000 Cheers.

As for the weekly challenges, there are two each week, so four in total. In Week 1, completing both challenges rewards 1,750 Cheers (750 + 1,000). Assuming Week 2 follows the same structure, players can earn a total of 3,500 Cheers by finishing all four weekly challenges.

The milestone challenges do not offer any Cheers, but they reward player titles for each conference completed.

In total, completing all challenges yields a maximum of 10,500 Cheers. Each conference requires 2,000 Cheers to be donated in order to complete it. With three conferences, that's a total of 6,000 Cheers needed, which is well within the 10,500 maximum, making the event fairly easy to finish.

In fact, with 7,000 Cheers available from daily challenges alone, players don't even need to do the weekly challenges to fully complete the event.
