The past few months have not been kind to Old G. The star-studded roster consisted of two back-to-back The International Champions, Sébastien "Ceb" Debs and Topias "Topson" Taavitsainen. However, they struggled during their Division II run at Western Europe Spring Tour.

Other plans

Even though they were favourites to get promoted for The Summer Tour, they tore through everyone during the qualifiers; In reality, the team only won 2 matches, including their debut match against Into The Breach. After their debut match, the team struggled to find their footing. Eventually, after losing to PuckChap, Old had to play the tiebreakers series against PuckChamp to keep their slot in Division II.

However, Old G had different plans before their tiebreaker series. Other teams loan two of their players for ESL One Berlin Major. Kartik "Kitrak" Rathi, the team’s hard support, joined OG as a standin', and Roman "Resolut1on" Fomynok, Old G’s offlane player, joined BetBoom Team as a standin’. Moreover, their tiebreaker series coincides with The Berlin Major group stages. As a result, they were disqualified from Division II, giving an auto-win to PuckChamp.

Ceb's Lashes

After their disqualification, Ceb tweeted his disappointment on Twitter. He stated that the tournament organisers were not helpful. Instead of finding a solution for Old G, Ceb said that PGL, the tournament organisers, kept throwing the rule book to their faces.

However, Ceb’s tweet met backlash as the Dota 2 community stood with PGL and questioned why Old G would need “special treatments”. After nearly two weeks after their dispute, PGL announced Old G’s disqualification from the DPC Summer Tour closed qualifiers. Ceb's Twittermania was the culprit for Old G’s disqualification.

PGL stated it viewed Ceb’s actions as harassment and will tolerate such behaviour. After their initial disqualification, Old G would still be eligible for the closed qualifiers. However, after Ceb’s outburst, they will have to start again from ground 0 if they want to have a shot at Division II for the Summer Tour.  Dota 2 pro tracker has a result of Ceb playing 255 matches in one week, and his win rate is 50.6%.
