The next DPC tour certainly got off to a rocky start for Old.G. This came after they were initially eliminated due to not having enough original players to complete their line up. Following a little drama involving Sebastian “Ceb” Debs and the organizers, it certainly looked like Old.G wouldn’t be able to compete at all. Not to be kept down, though, the team has capitalized on Puckchamp’s position with Ceb, Kitrak, Topson, No[o]ne and Aramis being confirmed on the roster.

Old.G Buy Their Way Out of Open Qualifiers

The Drama - Old.G Ceb’s Tweet Lands Him in Hot Water

The drama sparked out of a pretty unfortunate set of circumstances. Due to visa issues for OG players DM and Chuvash, they were unable to attend the ESL One Berlin Major. The tournament took place this last weekend and was a huge success. That meant that Kitrak was drafted to fill in as the position 5 support. It must be said he performed extremely well, helping to OG in the top 6 teams and bagging a good amount of DPC points.

But that meant that Kitrak was unavailable for the last games of the Division 2 DPC tour. In the end, Old.G was forced to forfeit, ensuring that they would not be able to proceed into Division 1. Following this disappointment, Ceb tweeted his frustrations but named and shamed both PGL and their player admin.

In response, PGL confirmed that they had made the decision for Old.G to be disqualified. They were also forced to forfeit their position in the Summer Tour Closed Qualifiers. Their reasoning was that the naming in Ceb’s tweet exposed their admin to public harassment. Of course, this is something that is taken seriously by the organizer.

The Resolution - Players to Join Puckchamp

As is always the case post Major, there were lots of roster changes as teams confirmed their lineups for the next DPC tour. It was confirmed that Sumail was to officially join Team Aster. Ammar "ATF" will join ex-Ooredoo Thunders, Quest Esports in Division 1. And the Old.G members will be taking the spots in Puckchamp.

It’s certainly one way of getting around the punishments inflicted by PGL. Many on social media have condemned the actions. However, many others have cited the attempted silencing of the team by PGL as a reason for Old.G to skirt the rules by any means necessary. One thing is clear including the players Ceb, Topson and  Kitrak will be joined by Aramis and No[o]ne during the closed qualifiers in the next tour. These players are no stranger to last minute roster changes. Perhaps this will be what they need to push into Div 1!

The Next Tour - Starting Soon

In the wake of the Berlin Major, fans are now turning their attention to the third and final DPC tour of this year’s competitive Dota. The Division 1 tour will be starting just next week. That being said, fans will need to wait a little longer to see the ex Old.G players take to the stage. You’ll be able to catch all of the action starting on June 7th. As always, only the top two teams will be able to advance into Div 2 heading into the next year.
