YouTube sensation James "MrBeast" Donaldson has revealed his intentions to buy a League of Legends esports team in the inaugural episode of Clickbaited, stating his love for the game as his main reason to do this.

At 366 million subscribers, MrBeast has the most popular YouTube channel in the world. Now, the internet sensation has set his eyes on esports and, more specifically, League of Legends, as the direction for his next venture.

MrBeast's Plans in Esports

According to MrBeast himself, his love for competitive League of Legends started long ago. Thirteen years long, to be precise. That's right, that is how long MrBeast has been playing League of Legends now, which would mean he began playing the game only 2 or 3 years after its release, making him a true old school player.

At a certain point, his passion for League of Legends grew to such an extent that it became his dream to become a pro player. With that dream seemingly not coming to pass any time soon, MrBeast aimed his sights on the next best thing: owning a League of Legends esports team.

"I'm not doing it for the love of esports. I'm doing it for the love of League of Legends."

Between keeping his YouTube channel active, and all his other forms of content, such as the recent 'Beast Games' show for Amazon Prime Video, MrBeast wants to make sure he has the time and space to do this right. For that reason, he disclosed that he would probably only get around to buying a League of Legends esports team in about 3 years time.

Regardless of the time frame, however, the news is great to hear for any League of Legends fan, as such a prominent internet figure entering the fray would only do wonders to further promote the game's esports scene.

"This would be my version of, you know, rich people buy, like, NBA teams or football teams."

A Growing Trend

MrBeast's buying a League of Legends esports team would only come as the latest in the list of internet celebrities to do so. Earlier this year, we already saw Twitch streamer Disguised Toast enter the highest level of competitive play in North America when his team, Disguised, was announced as one of the eight teams to make up the LTA North.

Though Disguised was formed all the way back in 2023, their inclusion into the LTA this year marked a big step forward for Disguised Toast and his esports aspirations. Following this news, it was also revealed earlier in 2025 that the Shopify Rebellion organization would merge with a team owned by two other very popular streamers in Ludwig and MoistCr1TiKaL's Moist Esports.

Even in the lower tiers of League of Legends esports, Caedrel's latest venture with Los Ratones is proving to be incredibly fruitful for the NLC, the league in which the team competes, showcasing once more the value that big names like MrBeast can add to the game.
