Movistar KOI are officially out of contention for the Top 4 in the 2026 League of Legends EMEA Championship (LEC) Summer Split Playoffs after GIANTX's Game 1 victory over Team Heretics mathematically ended their chances.

The result also means they will miss out on their own roadshow, which is set to take place from September 4 to 6 in Madrid, Spain.

A Tough End to MKOI Season

Over the past few years, MKOI have established themselves as a consistent top-three presence in the LEC, regularly challenging G2 Esports and Karmine Corp for titles.

However, 2026 has been a difficult year for the organization, with the Summer Split proving particularly challenging.

In the Group Stage, the team managed just three wins against five losses, missing out on the Upper Bracket.

With their record, MKOI had just a 0.01% chance of qualifying for the Upper Bracket Playoffs, but the odds were not in their favor.

MKOI Path to Madrid

On August 23, GIANTX officially ended MKOI's chances of qualifying through the Upper Bracket with a single victory over Team Heretics.

The Spanish organization's qualification hopes depended on a series of results going their way, but even that was ultimately not enough to secure their spot.

Road to Madrid

The first week of the LEC Summer Split 2026 Playoffs will take place in Madrid, Spain, as part of the league's roadshows. Organized by MKOI, the team will now miss the event on home soil.

MKOI can still qualify for the Playoffs if they finish at least sixth in the Group Stage.
