VCT Masters Madrid concluded the Swiss Stage on Day 5. The first game of the day was a very one-sided one, as LOUD completely annihilated EDward Gaming 2-0.

LOUD have now eliminated both teams from China as they make their way to the playoffs.

LOUD 2-0 EDG

First map was Icebox, which was picked by EDG. But this meant very little to LOUD. they had quite an explosive start to the map. EDG were left scrambling for answers, as LOUD ended the first half at a near perfect 11-1. EDG managed to win the pistol round in the second half, but LOUD swiftly closed out the map at 13-2.

It was a similar story on LOUD’s pick of Sunset. Although LOUD won the pistol, EDG answered back with 2 rounds of their own. But this was only a minor setback for the South American roster, as they closed out the half 9-3. EDG was left with no breathing room in the second half, as LOUD closed out the map with a flawless attack at 13-3.

According to ZmjjKK, it was not about the mentality of the team. But rather, he chose to take the responsibilities on his own shoulders.

“After Map 1, [I think] there was something a little bit wrong with my mentality. I think I didn’t do well as a duelist to take advantages for my team, and some fundamental things.“

Qck had a stellar performance on Sunset. And we asked him for his thoughts, and if he wanted to give a message to any of his doubters.

“Nothing specific. At some point, they were actually right. I did believe I was not performing at my best. But we gotta collect together that I’m in a new team, getting to know new people, new playstyles, adapting and actually playing a position that I didn’t play for a long time. But overall, that’s part of my development.”

Onto the Playoffs

In a post-match conference, we asked the players of EDG if they felt that LOUD were just outplaying them on every step, or if it was just nerves going up against giants. CHICHOO had a few thoughts to share.

“I don’t think it’s because we were nervous. It’s about the instinct reaction, and our communication. Something went wrong with our communication.”

LOUD coach stk attributed their current form based on their initial matchup against Gen.G.

“I think that in the first game, we entered with a lack of confidence against them. We were not on fire in the server like we are now. We learnt a lot from the mistakes that we made against Gen.G. that’s why we come back so much better. Because we learnt so much from that game. They are a very tough opponent, they have a really good map pool too. I hope we face off against them in the playoffs, and get our revenge.”

When we asked Saadhak about their dominant win, this is what he had to say.

“We had a solid game plan coming into this match. It doesn’t mean that [EDG] are predictable. It means that, as a team, we knew very well what we had to do. Other than that, everything that we were doing was working so, [there's] not much we can say about it. When everything is working, it is what it is.”

LOUD are poised to face off against Americas rivals Sentinels in the second match of the Playoffs of VCT Masters Madrid.
