With over 172 total champions in the game, there are plenty of League of Legends female champions to choose from in every role. In this comprehensive guide, we will be taking a look at the complete list of female champions in LoL, and which of these stand out in pro-play, both in the most recent competitive patch as well as historically.

Note that for the purpose of this article, female champions refers to any League of Legends champions who are canonically female (this includes monster champions like Rek'Sai), or who are feminine-coded (even if their gender is not specified in the lore).

Follow the latest LoL picks, live drafts, and matches on Strafe.

How Many Female Characters Are in LoL?

Overall, there are a total of 68 League of Legends female characters. This means that, from the complete pool of 172 champions, almost 40% of these (39.5%, to be exact) are female.

This includes any League of Legends champion that is canonically female. Notably ambiguous cases include champions like Rek'Sai who, given her lack of humanoid features (she is a void monster), may not be immediately recognizable as a female.

The latest League of Legends female champion release was Yunara, who was released with Patch 25.14 on July 16th, 2025.

Female LoL Champions Tier List for Competitive Play

In this list, we will go over the most impactful female champions in LoL when it comes to competitive play. To do this, we will look at the most recent pro play tournament, Worlds 2025, and go over the best female champions at the tournament based off a combination of champion pick rate, ban rate, win rate, and overall presence.

Note that Worlds 2025 was played on Patch 25.20, so this list will reflect the champions' strength on said patch. Without further ado, let's take a look at our League of Legends female champions tier list.

S-Tier: Priority Picks

  • Yunara: The latest ADC release proves incredibly strong thanks to her simple kit and high teamfight damage in the hands of the right player.
  • Orianna: One of the oldest Mid Lane champions in the game, Orianna stands out as having virtually no weaknesses, plus a potentially game-changing ultimate.
  • Poppy: Now that mobility has become the name of the game in competitive play, Poppy's anti-mobility kit proves to be extremely strong at the highest level.
  • Neeko: Her flexibility and endless playmaking capabilities make Neeko one of the most sought-after female LoL champions in competitive play. At Worlds 2025, T1's Keria made the most of Neeko's kit by making one of the best plays of the tournament.
  • Ambessa: One of the best Top Lane champions in pro play, Ambessa stands out for her unrivaled mobility, ability to catch an enemy carry off-guard, and great dueling power.

A-Tier: Situationally Strong

  • Qiyana: A terrific assassin pick that needs some frontline and setup in her team in order to be played comfortably.
  • Aurora: Her mobility and burst make Aurora a rather frustrating pick to deal with in the Mid and Top Lanes.
  • Taliyah: When it comes to competitive play, Taliyah stands out for her ability to catch opponents off-guard and her ability to move around the map faster than anyone.
  • Caitlyn: Her long range lets her dominate the lane and push for a lead from early on with the right Support pairing.
  • Kai'Sa: With a unique kit for an AD carry, Kai'Sa requires a fair amount of setup and protection in order to excel.
  • Vi: With Vi, most of her power is in an ultimate ability that allows her to single out an enemy carry and set your team up to win fights.

B-Tier: Niche/Counter Picks

  • Xayah: Paired with Rakan, Xayah makes for a dangerous ADC pick as she allows for more crowd control.
  • Cassiopeia: Extremely oppressive in the right hands. At Worlds 2025, Gwak "Bdd" Bo-sung  made great use of the champion to make it all the way to the Grand Finals with KT Rolster.
  • Karma: Pairs great with long range/poke AD carry champions who want to dominate the lane.
  • Annie: For Annie, it's all about setting up your teammates to be the stars of the show. Pairs well with high-damage Top Lane/Jungle champions.
  • Akali: A great Mid Lane pick when the team needs burst damage and assassination, but will suffer in lane against most ranged mages.
  • Lulu: To make the most of Lulu's kit, pro players will pick her next to hyper carry ADCs who can use the extra protection, mobility, and damage she provides.

  • Neeko (69% presence, 63.2% win rate, 3.1 KDA): Neeko pairs best with mobile ADC champions who can capitalize on her playmaking.
  • Leona (26% presence, 53.3% win rate, 2.9 KDA): Bursty, aggressive AD carries like Lucian often make the most of Leona's engages.
  • Karma (20% presence, 40% win rate, 3 KDA): One of the strongest Support picks in lane, pairs well with long-range ADC picks who want to dominate early on.
